Today I took on another themed route from the aforementioned booklet from the Ammerland district, Ammerland Touristik. This time I chose the route "From Aper Tief to Zwischenahner Meer" because it also starts and ends in Bad Zwischenahn. However, I moved the start and end point to the Park der Gärten and did the tour in reverse (anticlockwise). I also included one or two detours. For example, I drove briefly to the Karlshof bathing lake to show the possibilities of taking a nice break at this spot. If you want, you can even go for a swim in the cool water when the temperature is right. Details of this round trip can be found in the original description below or in the link provided. On the website, which you can access via the link, you can download a GPX file and a detailed tour description in PDF format, among other things. I found the tour very nice. My highlights were the St. Nicolai Church in Apen, the Howiek watermill and the Aper Tief nature reserve from where you can see the Hengstforder Mill from a distance. Description: [This is again from the Ammerland Touristik website] Although there are a number of sights to discover on this tour, the many beautiful landscape views are the real highlight of the tour. You often have the feeling of being completely alone on the route. The tour takes you along easy-to-ride, almost entirely asphalted roads that are mainly used for agriculture and therefore have extremely little traffic. This means you can fully enjoy the landscape scenarios gliding past, the Aper Tief, the Howieker watermill, the Park der Gärten and the Zwischenahner Meer. About 4 weeks ago the two of us planned a bike tour for today and ordered good weather straight away. Not that I take time off for free :-). The weather god was on our side. 98% of the tour is the Ammerland route Aper Tief - Bad Zwischenahn. In Apen the bridge was closed shortly before Eiler's furniture. In Bad Zwischenahn we left the route because there were too many pedestrians on the way. So we were faster with coffee and cake :-).
A really great tour to the Aper Tief, which is well worth seeing, recommended by Ammerland Touristik, driven in glorious weather and on mostly very good ground.
But you're quick, Alfons. Today everything went slightly wrong: In about Augustfehn the tour guide, again a tour from Rollis Account, was lost. We then drove the return trip to the new connection points. There was no time for photos on the way back. A nice tour, despite the fact that there are some routes without a bike path.
Once again, a themed tour in the Ammerland region that we really enjoyed. Although there are a variety of sights to discover on this tour, the many beautiful scenic views are the real highlight of the tour. You often feel like you're completely alone along the route. The tour takes you along easily navigable, almost entirely paved roads, some of which, unfortunately, are in need of repair. These roads are predominantly used for agriculture and therefore have very little traffic. This allows you to thoroughly enjoy the passing landscapes, the Aper Tief, the Howieker Watermill, the Park der Gärten, and the Zwischenahner Meer. Highlights: The 13th-century St. Nicholas Church in Apen is dedicated to St. Nicholas, who is venerated as the patron saint of sailors. This testifies to Apen's former importance as a shipping and trading center. Behlen Agricultural Museum: In Lindernerfeld, you pass the private "Behlen Agricultural Museum," which is worth a visit. Park der Gärten in Bad Zwischenahn-Rostrup: The largest model garden complex in Germany, with over 90 themed gardens and plant collections, is the showcase of the Ammerland nurseries. The Howiek Watermill was built in 1608. Its striking half-timbered structure with a thatched and tiled roof is striking. The mill was powered by an undershot waterwheel. Karlshofer Swimming Lake in Westerstede-Ocholt: On warm days, the ideal place for a relaxing swim in an idyllic little lake. The Aper Tief Nature Reserve is the largest tidal watercourse in the Ammerland region with direct access to the North Sea. This wetland and floodplain area, newly created in Hengstforde in 2005, fascinates with its daily changing features.
Half past nine in the morning in Germany, actually an old saying from a well-known advertisement for a waffle slice. For us, however, it is the starting point for our little bike tour from Bad Zwischenahn-Specken in NSG Aper Tief, our second holiday bike tour in the beautiful Ammerland.
The tour takes you along well-cycleable, almost entirely paved roads, which are mainly used for agriculture and are therefore extremely low-traffic. The landscape scenarios that slide by, the Hengstorfer Mühle, the Aper Tief and the Zwischenahner Meer can be enjoyed to the full. The Hengstorfer Mühle is perfect for a short break. Here I tried an onion pie with spring wise. The many beautiful views of the landscape are actually the highlights of the tour. Weather: ☀️ 13 degrees
We took a group trip to Apen in sunny weather. The tour took us along roads and paths lined with trees, allowing us to spend most of our time in the shade.
