Ottilienhöhe Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

Shortly before the cul-de-sac to the Buchberg vantage point, there is a cozy rest area with a magnificent view. From here there is also a direct route to Blumberg.

Wutachflühen Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

The Wutachflühen (Flühen = rocks) stand for towering rock towers, gigantic ferns, moss-covered stones and gnarled roots. You pass this section of the jungle on partly exposed, narrow paths with a low risk of vertigo.

On the first stage of the Schluchtensteig one of the highlights: the bridge of the Sauschwänzlebahn as a truss girder bent downwards. There are a few more of these, but …

Was a nice tour, but not suitable for inexperienced people who are not free from vertigo. Absolutely not for families with children.
The bad weather variant is recommended for this.

After the train ride, we walked back to the car on the Sauschwänzleweg gourmet trail.

This tour should be the finale of this year's summer hiking weeks.
First we took the Sau Schwänzlebahn to Blumberg-Zollhaus. This trip was the ultimate highlight for everyone. There was hardly anything going on on the train, so we had the entire compartment to ourselves. In contrast to modern trains, the windows on this historic train can still be opened …

Nice hike. The first half leads for the most part over a narrow hiking trail through the forest. The path was blocked twice by rubble. Due to previous rains it was sometimes very muddy. The second half was mostly over open terrain.

Arrived yesterday in the evening and stayed at the camper place near the train station. Bought the tickets on the spot in the morning because nothing was available online.

The weather was almost too good again. In the passages outside the forest, the planet burned endlessly in the morning.

Very nice tour with, if you want, a historic train ride at the end 😊 The route is quite varied. The first third of the trail is fairly easy (apart from a descent, but there is a detour here) and with beautiful views. After that you come to the Wutachflühen. From the lookout point you have a great view …

The Sauschwänzle trail leads through fields and meadows with a unique panoramic view of the Swiss Alps (today at 30 C there was no visibility) and the unspoilt natural landscape of the Wutachflühen. The Wutachflühen is known for its steep rock towers, gigantic ferns, mossy stones and gnarled roots.
The bus runs during the week, but at weekends you can …

On foot in a nice group with a guide from the Black Forest Association from Blumberg-Zollhaus to Lausheim-Blumegg on the Sauschwänzle-Weg along the Wutach Flüen and back again in very nostalgic style with the Sauschwänzlebahn. The weather was kind to us with the most pleasant temperatures, fresh wind and not a drop of rain. What more do you want...
