The history of the picturesque village of Eibachs begins with the "Nassau period" in the 13th century. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1313 as "Ibach". It was one of originally three villages located in the three valleys around Eibach.

The Kuckucksweg is another of the grandiose extra tours in the Lahn-Dill-Bergland. Once you have climbed out of Eibach, the path leads over high meadows, partly also high heathland, sometimes through light-flooded deciduous forests, sometimes through dark coniferous forests even in bright sunshine. And again and again there are these wonderful panoramic views over the countless hilltops. A real pleasure trail, even if the cuckoo hasn't cried yet!
today we unfortunately had a bit of bad luck with the weather - it rained every now and then. But it stopped just in time for the snack / lunch break - what more could you want! The path is very nice to walk - parts of the forest alternate with not so great views today ... definitely worth it. You can find more information here: https://naturpark.lahn-dill-bergland.de/wandern/extratouren/kuckucksweg/ The tour was not recorded with Komoot, so the time is only displayed here in full, with all breaks.
Today I walked the Cuckoo Trail in 22°C sunshine. I think it's smoother, easier, and more enjoyable walking the right way.
We didn't see or hear a "cuckoo". Nevertheless, the tour was quite nice, with many out and distant views. Like all Lahn-Dill mountain tours so far, excellent trail markings and easily walkable trails/paths, although today (due to yesterday's rain) it was a bit damp. Recommended for tracking.
The Extratour Cuckoo Trail is a premium hiking trail in the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Nature Park, characterized by a diverse landscape and historical features. The circular hike begins in Eibach, a district of Dillenburg, and leads through forests, meadows, and historical sites for approximately 11.8 km, gaining 464 meters in elevation. The route offers a mix of closed forest areas, orchards, gently rolling terrain, and impressive panoramic views. Old wild cherry trees and orchards along the trail are still used for spirits production today. Highly recommended!
I actually started walking without a destination in mind (that's why a section is missing). Suddenly I found myself on the Cuckoo Trail. Since I want to do all the extra tours again this year anyway, I walked it straight away. It's so wonderful to be able to enjoy the view, bathe in nature and simply enjoy the beautiful weather on such a great tour.
A nice walk in the LDB... everyone stretched their paws, and at the same time, we broke in and tested our new hiking boots! Fiete and I don't need anything like that... but I have to say: if you chase a two-legged creature like that, they'll have much more grip in the turns... 😀 ..........And they won't fly off 😁 See you soon, your Bruno 🐾🐾 https://naturpark.lahn-dill-bergland.de/wandern/extratouren/
