Today starts my patchwork holiday, which I start in Bad Langensalza in Thuringia. Here I do a lap around the Hainich, with 13,000 hectares, the largest contiguous deciduous forest area in Germany. The beech characterizes the image of the forest. About half of it is national park. https://www.nationalpark-hainich.de/de/nationalpark/nationalpark-hainich.html I start at a hiking parking lot 🅿️ in Weberstedt. There are quite a few of them, you can start a hike from anywhere. The bike path doesn't go right through it, but it doesn't just go around it either. And it is noticeably always upwards. There are many rest areas and countless hiking trails in the forest 🌳🌳🌳 After I climbed the highest elevation ⛰️, I take my picnic break in a sunny place 🥪🥓🫒🧀 On the way back I pass the 🌳 treetop path. There's a lot going on here 👨👩👧🧑🤝🧑👭👫👨👩👧👦 I pinch myself, also with 12 € entry, reduced 8 € with guest card, which I don't have yet. The tower could be seen from afar. I imagine it would be very nice in autumn 🍁🍂🍃https://www.nationalpark-hainich.de/de/urlaubszielen/baumkronenpfad.html Back at the parking lot I swap my cycling shoes for hiking shoes 🥾 I do another little hike on the Feensteig 🧚♀️ A 2.5 km loop designed as a fairy tale path. The round is easy to drive overall, mainly on firm gravel / gravel and therefore sometimes a bit rough. Definitely worth it, certainly more than a hike 🥾
Short detour into the beautiful Hainich Nature Park. The paths are mostly gravel, a sturdy bike with coarse tires is a must. Otherwise a nice tour.
Right in front of us and not yet ridden, the national park circular trail in the Hainich. Made up for it today. The starting point was the car park at the cemetery in Craula, free and not as many people as at the national park center. We did the tour opposite to the official tour description because we found the elevation profile more pleasant. The route always leads along wide and well-developed paths. For a stop, we recommend the hut at the Fuchsfarm and of course the Hainichbaude at the Craulaer Kreuz 🍻👍.
Mega bike tour through the beech forest Hainichen. I was there in the fall and the color of the leaves is beautiful. Will do the tour again in the summer. The forest is really enchanting.
Wonderful route, short but beautiful. Can certainly be expanded. A stop at the Haunich Baude at the Craulaer Wanderparkplatz is highly recommended. You can get delicious Austrian specialties to eat there😋
This tour was very nice, you definitely have to be in good shape, the 520 meters of altitude make it a nice but very beautiful area
Great tour to start with. Hainich National Park is highly recommended. Very well signposted.
https://www.nationalpark-hainich.de/de/service/besuchsplanung/ausflugsvorschlaege/radtour-nationalpark-rundweg.html I gladly took up the suggestion and completed this round this afternoon. Despite the already made 19 circular routes on foot in Hainich, a few new corners were added today. For this round you should use at least one trekking bike, because one or the other passage is suboptimal with a Dutch bike. A child bike trailer is also not really recommended. Otherwise a varied round with open and wooded sections. Worth it!
