Very nice hike with great views and the opportunity to take a break on the Rongge Alpe. We went wrong briefly at km 1.55.
Tour 1 of our vacation in the Montafon: the Gargellner windows 🏞️ The design of the hiking route has changed a lot since last year. At least at the beginning you walk right next to a stream. Really impressive! 🤩 In general, there are many highlights: The Gitzistee, panoramas, the Gargellner window, the lime kiln, Juliusruhe, to name just a few. A stop at Alpe Rongg is definitely recommended. 🐾🌿 The windows inspire us above all because of their route through the forest over hill and dale. They are just beautiful ... 😊
Welcome to Gargellen, a small town with just 100 (!!!) inhabitants. 😬😉 The place is located in the beautiful "Montafon" ski area and has become a popular destination even for hikers and bikers. We decided to take the "Gargellner Fenster Rundwanderweg" to get to know each other. As information from the nice lady at the tourist info it was said: "... you can go in any weather!" Um, you can do it, but if you are lucky with the weather, you should plan a little more time (estimated 2.5 hours) and almost pack your rubber boots. Shortly before the Ronggalpe it was very muddy and slippery, which of course was due to the pastureland in connection with continuous rain. So the alp was our salvation for warming up and drinking coffee. By the way, the cakes are recommended ... again! 👌🏻😉 The rest of the way is with "no rain - take off your jacket", "oh rain - put on your jacket" to the end. It is still recommended, because the "windows" (information boards) give you an insight into the region around Gargellen, the nature and the place itself. We thought it was great to "arrive" ...
Nice walk that runs mostly through the forest. And that was nice today with 29 degrees on the thermometer.
Day 3. Heavy thunderstorms overnight 🌩️, still raining in the morning 🌦️, which stopped pretty soon. And a lot of fog haze 🌫️. So perfect for an annual greetings tour: the Gargellner windows inverted, i.e. with a different perspective and, apart from one stitch, a much more pleasant climb. 🥾 Running on the Maisäß level, laid out by the people of Gargellen themselves, the circular route keeps changing the details of its route, so that despite its level of popularity it is surprising every year. Fascinating, magical, rooty, woody, resinous. 🤩 The Gargellner windows themselves are a geological feature that we find particularly interesting to look at. PS: Definitely take a break on the Rongg-Alpe - yummy. 🤤
Today a tour in the neighboring valley from Gargellen. It was a short but very nice lap in which I cracked my ankle right from the start. Bad luck! But luckily nothing cracked or broken, but now it was not possible to limp. 🥴 The first 400 m led over a construction site. There will probably be a new ski slope and a new road soon. After that it was very nice, mostly in the shady forest. A slipping stone was my evil. You always have roots or gravel under your feet. The paths are narrow, but we liked it anyway. This "window" path always has benches in beautiful places where explanations about geology or the like are made. The brook rushes, there are butterflies buzzing around (I caught swallowtail and mourning cloak 📷) and it smells of forest and herbs. The hospitality on the Rongg Alpe was very loving. The menu is small, but the homemade cake tasted very good. The way back then had less shade, but was ok.
A beautiful and varied circular route around Gargellen
