Finally snow 🌨☃️🏔❄️ Out into the green, er, white 🤣Nümbrecht was on the note. It was really great, nothing going on along the way, we were practically alone. Great 😎👍🏻👍🏻
According to the template, the start is at Homburg Castle. There is a parking lot there.
https://youtu.be/mxWBeviarRs From Leichlingen to Nümbrecht, it's a 70 km drive via Much. It was still quite chilly; we only had 8°C on the way. Thanks to the cloudless sky and bright sunshine, the temperatures soon rose. Nümbrecht is not just a climatic health resort, but, in our opinion, a particularly idyllic place in the Bergisches Land. Over 890 years of history and plenty of nature. Thanks to its healing climate, Nümbrecht in the Oberbergisches region has been a climatic health resort since 1987. In Nümbrecht, you'll find plenty of the truly important things in life: time, untouched nature, and crystal-clear air. On a walking tour through Nümbrecht, you'll experience the town's rich history. In addition to listed half-timbered houses and historic slate facades, the 1,000-year-old village church is particularly worth mentioning. It is one of the oldest buildings in the area. Architecture enthusiasts can travel through the centuries with this mix of styles. It originated in the 8th/9th century as a sacred church over a Frankish burial ground, and construction of the early Romanesque church began in 955. We then followed the signs for the "Castle Views" hiking route to Homburg Castle. The first foundations date back to the 11th century. First documented in 1276 as a hilltop castle of the Counts of Sayn, the castle was converted into the palace of Count Sayn-Wittgenstein during the Baroque era. Since the independent rule of the Sayn-Wittgenstein family ended in 1743, the castle gradually fell into disrepair. Restoration began in the 20th century. Today, the castle houses a cultural history museum. The path leads us down into the valley of the Spreitger Bach stream. The Witches' Ponds are two ponds located in the forest below Spreitgen. Legend has it that witch trials took place here in the Middle Ages. The accused were bound hand and foot and thrown into the pond. Those looking to rack up some serious miles can do so on the Bergisches Panoramasteig. Stages 11 and 12 cover a total of almost 44 kilometers from Waldbröl to Nümbrecht and from Nümbrecht to Ründeroth. You can hike through the diverse Homburger Ländchen in two day trips. Nature discovery trails offer interesting information about the flora and fauna of the Oberbergisches Land at stations. Whether one, two, or nine kilometers, everyone will find their perfect route here. Six Nordic walking routes and four therapeutic climate hiking trails offer the right incentive for every condition. Nümbrecht and the Homburger Ländchen are very diverse; there really is something for every taste.
