Trail Reviews

February 17, 2024, Teufelskanzelsteig – Bad Peterstal-Griesbach

On the other side, no visibility from the fog... The mega path is very beautiful and satisfactory with a wonderful view...

The paths on this tour today were to our liking, mostly (narrow) forest paths. Rather short in length, but still quite challenging in places. Crunchy climb...but doable! Great views and rest areas, even if the only drinks fridge on the tour is currently not stocked due to forestry work.

From the parking lot at the summer ski jump you hike up to the Griesbach waterfall, which cascades over the boulders. The first climb has to be conquered on moss-covered stone steps along the waterfall. We continue uphill, past the Sexauer Hütte, then along adventurous paths and stairs, often with high steps, steeply up to the Teufelskanzel, a large and impressive rock formation. Once you've completed this most difficult part of the trail, it's only a moderate climb uphill and then downhill again after a short time until you reach the Marienruhe viewpoint at 900 meters above sea level. It's worth taking a break here to enjoy the wonderful mountain panorama when fog and clouds don't spoil your plans. There are drink crates, benches and even two tent platforms! The route zigzags back downhill through the rocky forests. You shouldn't miss another highlight: the Haberer Tower! The 16 meter high sandstone tower was built in 1899 in honor of the former medical councilor and sponsor of the Renchtal baths, Dr. Albert Haberer, built. You climb 87 steps to enjoy wonderful views before finally going down and back to the parking lot.

A short but beautiful tour which also runs large parts on roadways but continuously manages to inspire with the highlights and short, sometimes challenging path sections and so it doesn't get boring! A special highlight is the well-designed recreation area with a great view. Is it safe to walk again 👍🏻

Today we tackled the Teufelskanzelsteig in the best hiking weather. Good footwear is a must here! The railings on the Teufelskanzelsteig are sometimes quite wobbly and rotten. But later at Marienruh you are rewarded for your efforts. A beautiful view of the Black Forest mountain ranges and the view also extends to the Rhine plain. In wet and damp weather there is a risk of slipping on this tour.

Finally hiking again 😊🥰☀️ Today at the Teufelskanzelsteig in Bad Griesbach. Normally, routes with highlights such as waterfalls, towers or many paths with roots and stones are always sought, otherwise it will be difficult for the children 😉😋. We had all that today. Well, the Griesbach waterfall is not big and had little water and the Haberer tower at the end is not a Buchkopf tower but everyone liked it. It doesn't always have to be the biggest, tallest or widest. 😉 A really great, varied route with an amazing view of the Marienruhe. Highly recommended! 😊

The Teufelssteig Trail has everything a hike entails. The trails lead through the beautiful Black Forest. The circular route takes us along beautiful root-covered paths, passing a waterfall and climbing steep stairs, including a ladder. You'll be rewarded with a magnificent view all the way down to the Reihn plain.

Beautiful tour on lonely paths with many highlights. Haberer Tower, waterfall, trails, wonderful view of the Renchtal, drinks station... you feel like you're on vacation.. 😎
