On the Lämbi tour, you ride uphill along the Rench and get great panoramic views from the Breitenberg. The tour is dedicated to the former landlady of Griesbach, Lämbi, who illegally appropriated land and had to deal with it after her death.

You start in the middle of the village, right next to Bad Peterstal's town hall. From here, the trail takes you out of town at a leisurely pace. On the left and right, you'll see orchards and small Black Forest farms before the trail slowly enters the forest. After just the first few kilometers, you'll notice: it's a steady climb, but never really steep. The forest provides shade, and every now and then, a meadow opens up with a view of the Rench Valley. After about seven kilometers, the Herbstwasen mountain inn appears—the perfect opportunity for your first rest. From there, the trail winds its way further along the ridge. It becomes a bit quieter, with forest alternating with clearings. Shortly afterward, you'll pass the Renchtalhütte (Renchtal Hut). It's a truly beautiful place to take a breather and enjoy the view. Then the trail continues uphill until you reach the highest point of the tour—around 800 meters high. Here, you're completely surrounded by forest, but magnificent views flash in between. From now on, the descent begins: long, wide paths lead you back down into the valley. Along the way, you'll pass mountain meadows, the occasional small Black Forest farm, and benches with views over the valley – ideal for a short break. Once you reach the bottom, you'll follow the Rench River, which accompanies you for the last few kilometers. The water babbles beside you, the paths are flat and pleasant. Soon, the outskirts of Bad Peterstal appear again, and after about 25 kilometers, you'll be back at the town hall – tired perhaps, but certainly satisfied. --- ✨ The beauty of the Lämbi Tour: It connects rustic inns with quiet forest paths. You'll enjoy expansive views and, at the same time, that typical Black Forest feeling of security in the forest. And all of this at a distance that's athletic but not overwhelming. From here, it's a steady downhill run. The forest path leads down in wide loops. Edge: Alternating between dense forest passages and open mountain meadows. Small hamlets and isolated Black Forest farms are located along the trail. Opportunity for short breaks on benches overlooking the Rench Valley. --- 7️⃣ Near the valley → Return to the town hall (22 - 25 km) Down in the valley, you reach the Rench River. Now follow the valley floor on easy paths back towards Bad Peterstal. Edge: Meadows, small bridges over the Rench, and accompanying riparian vegetation. After approximately 25 km, the loop ends at the town hall. 🚶♂️ Lämbi Tour – Personal Description You start in the middle of the village, right next to Bad Peterstal's town hall. Today's tour took us from Oppenau to Bad Peterstal, and then over the Wilde Rench past the Renchtalhütte back home. I wanted to use the new cycle path to Bad Peterstal, but next time I'll use the route marked by Komoot, because the cycle path unfortunately ends at the main road. At least there's one that's more than just a section separated by the road. The Martinshof picnic area is one of the most beautiful I know. Very well-maintained, with a vending machine and even a coffee machine. They also sell food at the vending machine. However, it's also one of the most expensive I know. A small self-service beer for €3.50 or a coffee pod for €2.50 is something you'd really like to try. My general recommendation regarding drinking water is to fill up your water bottles with wonderfully cold spring water in Bad Peterstal or Griesbach near the beginning of the tour. Otherwise, a beautiful, varied tour.
