Today we were in Baiersbronn to hike the Sankenbachsteig. I discovered it on my trekking tour in September. A varied hike over narrow paths and wide forest highways was everything. Well signposted hike could not be expected otherwise, the Baiersbronn connoisseur path
Spontaneously we went to Baiersbronn yesterday to see the Sankenbachsee and waterfall. The Sankenbachsteig awaits you with all kinds of beautiful paths and highlights, especially the small weir at the upper waterfall, which can be operated by hand, fascinated me. This allows you to control the amount of water that falls down. Shortly before the end of the tour, it was the turn of the Glasmännle hut, from which you have a great view over Baiersbronn, but unfortunately it has been closed for a while 😢. Then we went to the EKS in the Stöckeralm, where Giuseppe's "stocks" were replenished 😋. https://www.wanderinstitut.de/premiumwege/baden-wuerttemberg/sankenbachsteig/
A wonderful hike along the Sankenbach to the Sankenbachsee. The sankenbachsee is one of the karst lakes around Baiersbronn with the special feature that you can swim there. After the path follows the shore of the lake for a while, it then goes steeply up to the Sankenbach waterfalls. The effort is worth it and the sight of the waterfall makes up for the effort. After a break at the waterfall hut, the path leads past the Raiblesbrunnen and continues steadily uphill to the Wasenhütte, from where there are wonderful views of Freudenstadt. The route continues downhill to Friedrichstal and the final climb begins at the Michaelskirche there, past the Misshütte to the Glasmännlehütte. There are always great views of Baiersbronn along the way. After another rest with a backpack snack at the no longer managed Glasmännlehütte, we return to the free hiking car park at Sankenbach.
Today, the weather was initially mixed, and we headed to Baiersbronn. However, we were immediately disappointed: we had to park with a parking disc for 4 hours in the hiking car park for a 12km hike, meaning the 2-Lakes Trail is no longer legally accessible from here... Beautiful scenery and seating areas, with some lovely paths leading to the lake, although it was quite crowded at the waterfall. After that, unfortunately, there's not much to do, just a few tracks. On the descent, the path is also heavily overgrown, reaching a height of over 2m, which isn't much fun. There are a few nice places to stop for a break, but somehow you're always feeling the pressure of time... A path that's certainly worth walking, but it also wastes a lot of potential...
Out and about with the Durlach ladies in the fantastic upper Murgtal! 💕⛰️✨ The Sankenbachsteig in Baiersbronn offers everything a Black Forest heart could desire: sunny meadows, winding paths, rocky climbing passages, the beautiful Sankenbachsee with its waterfall, wide views from the Glasmännle hut and a romantic sundown at the Schnapsbrünnle from the Kalmbach family distillery. 🥃🥂🌲👯♥️⛰️ Great day with a well-deserved finish in the Kranz Durlach. There has to be tradition. 🍻
Wonderful tour that went together like today. An incredible number of small paths, rustic and rooted. In the middle of the tour we passed the Sankenbachsee. Here we took our rest, there was melon, biscuits and rolls. Anita and Karin even brought Ramazotti with them ... then we went over the waterfall. Only at the very end it had drizzled a little. But overall it was great hiking weather with sunshine. A video comes back in the course of the video
We start at the Baiersbronn train station and end the hike at the outdoor pool. That is why the actual Sankenbachsteig trail is supplemented by the access route and the detour to the outdoor pool. Since it was very hot today, the shade in the forest, one or the other refreshing breeze and of course the bath in the Sankenbachsee and in the outdoor pool came at the right time. The Sankenbachsee is the lake in the area where swimming is allowed. The ascent (sure-footedness!) from the Sankenbachsee along the waterfall is a bit challenging, but very beautiful. Once at the top, a slider can be opened with a lever device and the previously accumulated water makes the waterfall a little "fuller". The path now changes to the Forbachtal side and you descend almost to the level of Friedrichstal. The Michaelskirche (made of wood) is on the way and is worth a visit. Now there is another ascent to the top, from where there are always great views. The detour to the Glasmännlehütte is highly recommended because of the great view of the surrounding area, and there is also a great place to stop for refreshments. The descent over the steep path is very beautiful and in places "alpine" (-> sure-footedness!) The conclusion in the outdoor pool is wonderfully refreshing after the quite strenuous tour. A great hike with forest and mountain paths..

@Oswald Thank you for the videos. There seems to be something wrong with this link.
