A circular tour on great paths in a very beautiful area.
The most beautiful part of the way goes through the Möhrenbachtal. After Wemding, the tour leads through an agricultural area to the Hahnenkammsee. Then it goes over a lot of gravel roads with constant ups and downs through forest unf field to Treuchtlingen. An e-bike is advisable here.
First through the Möhrenbachtal to Weilheim/Otting, on to Wemding, which lies on the inner edge of the Ries crater. Via Polsingen to Lake Hahnenkamm. Then again climbs until finally the Heumöderntal can roll to Treuchtlingen. Varied and lonely paths with numerous hills and valleys.
Coffeetime RETRACTED, a new chapter in Coffeetime ON TOUR. Two charming valleys are combined in the Hahnenkamm tour. With a few quick turns of the pedal, we leave Treuchtlingen and plunge into the Möhrenbachtal valley. The valley is described as quiet and romantic—romantic, yes, quiet? No—the birds chirp, the carrots babble, the tires crunch on the gravel road. Now, between late winter and early spring, with sunshine, a feeling of freedom quickly sets in. Light pedal pressure takes us uphill along the stream that still winds through the brown meadowland. The valley is still narrow and bordered by forests, but after a few kilometers it opens up, and we see the imposing Möhren Castle on the edge of the valley. Below, the small village of Möhren is just as charming as the castle and the valley section. We are drawn on, past beaver lodges and small babbling streams to Gundelsheim, a village with a newly developed center surrounded by dry slopes. Major construction site! After some back and forth, we leave the town in the valley, which narrows again, and continue south. The valley widens and we reach the plateau near Weilheim. We continue along the railway line and the Weilheim/Otting station to Otting. The Möhrenbach stream flows through the town as an open watercourse, rarely seen, embellishing the village. At the end is Otting Castle with its castle pond. From now on, we head generally west, more or less on a flat surface, crossing spruce and beech forests for the next few kilometers. The route descends, and the Wemding forest lake appears. The last few kilometers to Wemding are accompanied underground by the water supply built in the Middle Ages, which ends at the town lake. Coffee time in the town square, watched by a pair of storks. As we leave the town and look back, we see the edge of the Ries on the horizon, which prompts us to turn around. We make a loop around the rim of the crater, enjoying a magnificent view down into the crater basin, and head north. Following a steady up and down past Polsingen, we reach Ulsheim, where a detour to the pavilion above the town is worthwhile. From Polsingen, we follow the Rohrbach stream upstream, past mills, through its valley bed, and reach the Hahnenkammsee. In the sunshine with a view of the lake, we surrender to the quacking of ducks, surrendering to the dolce vita. Once again, we change direction, this time heading east. Steadily uphill, we cycle along long strips of meadows bordered by patches of forest. We skirt the Schellenberg and Geißberg, reaching the climax of our ascent. A gentle pedal push takes us to Freihardt, reaching the Heumödertal valley. Rolling is the order of the day! At this time of year, nature is still very restrained, but the image of flowering meadows and the smell of hay is insistent. The final kilometers we cycle through the increasingly narrow Heumödertal valley through beech forests, past a deer enclosure, to Treuchtlingen. A tour for all the senses! The sun on your face, the chirping of birds, the smell of freshly cut wood, a panorama galore - coffee time is what NACHGEFAHREN on Tour wishes you.
nice round. Quite fresh to start with, but then it got better and better...
