When we woke up this morning, it was raining and the mountain peaks were covered in clouds. So we didn't start until 10 a.m., when the clouds started to clear a little. After leaving Fieberbrunn, we got into the swing of things after just a few kilometers and it became clear to us: Today is going to be steep! For the climb to the Großer Asitz, we followed a forest path the whole time, which was excellent to ride on, but was very steep in places. At the same time, the forest path led through a beautiful landscape, which we only got to see in small portions thanks to the thick fog. But that made the whole atmosphere even more magical and we were very grateful to be here in this weather. Bright sunshine and sweltering heat would make things much more difficult! 😅 We kept pedaling our way up until we eventually left the dense forest and reached the grazing cows on the alpine pastures. We also keep meeting downhillers who find a little trail paradise here in the Saalbach-Hinterklemm-Leogang region. We pass the Spielberghaus and, just before the summit, the Seidl Alm before we stand at the summit cross of the Großer Asitz! We made it!! From now on, it's all downhill to Leogang...or is it!? At the summit, the fog rolls in again and we can't see the supposedly mighty panorama of the Leogang Steinberge. So we go back down and we can really let the tires roll. Until... well, until it goes uphill again and the gradient increases again. We probably didn't look at the elevation profile very closely 🙈 But the further we get towards the end of the Schwarzleo valley, the more we realize that the effort was actually well worth it. Here the cloud cover breaks up a little and we get a fantastic view of the mountains opposite. How mighty they look!! From here it's actually only downhill to Leogang, where we're staying tonight. What an intense and beautiful day that was! 🛌 Accommodation: We're staying at the Biohotel Ruperts: https://www.rupertus.at/ 💡More information about the region: https://www.saalfelden-leogang.com/biken 🗺️ Route: Here you can find the original GPX tracks of the "Hard" Gravel Route: komoot.com/de-de/collection/2402240/graveltour-salzburgerland-die-harte
