Four alpine pastures in one go: Discover the diversity of the alpine pastures in Großarltal on just one hike.

The tour starts at the end of the Ellmautal (a side valley of Großarl) at the Grundlehen parking lot. You can reach the starting point by hiking bus or car. From here, choose the hiking trail to Filzmoosalm. On the way, you will pass a power and rest spot that is perfect for a short break and where you can refill your water bottle with the best spring water. Filzmoosalm is located in an untouched natural landscape and is an ideal intermediate stop for the further hike.

The path now leads you along the Salzburger Almenweg over the so-called „Fleischgraben“ to the Berggasthof Loosbühelalm. There you can fortify yourself with the classic „Jause“ (a traditional snack) as well as various warm dishes. Without any major climbs, you then continue to the Weißalm. Once you arrive, you will enjoy the breathtaking panorama. You follow the Salzburger Almenweg further to the Ellmaualm, the last alpine pasture on this loop. From here you can even see the Hochkönig. Well-fortified and rested, you finally stroll relaxed downhill back to the starting point of the tour.

If you have less time or prefer a shorter route, you can descend into the valley from any alpine pasture and thus return to the starting point. Since you can individually extend or shorten the tour, it is also a good choice for families or in case of rather bad weather.

Filzmoos Alm

The Filzmoosalm is located at 1,710 meters in the rear Ellmautal valley, surrounded by Swiss stone pines and rare plant species. On the alpine pasture, you will be spoiled with delicacies from our own farm. The forest path from the Grundlehen parking lot to the Filzmoosalm is also suitable for strollers. Children can let off steam at the adjacent playground and discover the petting zoo. The Filzmoosalm is located on the Salzburger Almenweg, the long-distance hiking trail through the Salzburger Pongau. There is also space to stay overnight on the alpine pasture.

Although this ancient alpine pasture has been in this place for centuries, it was extensively restored around the turn of the millennium. At the original, open hearth, the dairymaids still produce, as they have been used to for generations, the sour cheese for which the region is so famous. In addition to the cheese, guests also get sausage, bacon, Grisons meat, bread, butter and various schnapps from their own production directly on the Alm to taste.
