A hammer tour. Thank God I changed my mind this morning from Hoëgne and Statte to Spa. There would probably have been too little water because of the drought. Here, too, the Ruisseau de Pendu should be a highlight, almost dried up. But!!! Just the right weather and season. Max 23 degrees, a little wind and amazing views, especially from the Tour de Berinzenne. You can see up to 70 km over the Eifel and Ardennes. And what is very rare, the Venn once green! This tour is definitely going to be on the repeat list. 3/4 went through very varied forests, the rest over the Venn high plateau
https://www.cirkwi.com/fr/circuit/195177-spa-17-la-fagne-de-malchamps-par-la-vecquee-rectangle-bleu 🐈♥️ On the signposted circular route "Spa No. 17" we crossed the Venn near Spa and added a loop to the source of Geronstere. The Venn landscapes are simply unique and we were extremely lucky today with the sun, the temperature and the frozen ground. In the Venn it can easily become a mud fight and we noticed that on some paths. As I said, luckily most of the ground was frozen. Beautiful wide moorland plains stretch to the horizon and offer hikers a magnificent view on the footbridges or from the observation tower. The climb through the stream to the source of Geronstere is another highlight, because the rushing stream and the beautiful forest, with the occasional stream crossing on stone blocks, make for a great experience. Highlights are clearly the footbridges in the Venn, sometimes frozen, sometimes covered in snow and wonderful to walk in the sun, the paths and forest sections, the forest nature trail and the refreshment stops are absolutely worth mentioning. We had a great day with cloudless skies and bright sunshine and would love to come back on this tour. Have a nice Saturday everyone 🙋🏻♂️ Collection Belgium: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/1342535/-wandern-in-den-belgischen-ardennen
A wonderful tour in hot weather at the top but there was a lot of wind and it was only 27 instead of 32°. The Venn was extremely dry and still green. With nice company, it was just a snap, two nice stops rounded off the picture. A wonderful day, I really like going on this tour at any time of the year. It always offers a lot of variety
Today we walked from a parking lot near the Géronstère spring into the Fagne de Malchamps raised moor area with its numerous ponds. From the Tour Jean Valière observation tower we enjoyed the panoramic view of the raised moor. New wooden walkways take us comfortably across the plateau and through a birch forest to the Aèrodrome. The path then leads to the Domaine de Berinzenne. We really enjoy the Pouhan Pia and then follow the idyllic course of the wild Berenzen stream. On the way back, our path is paved by the rocky Géronstère torrent with small waterfalls. A lovely, varied tour 😊🏞🍻
Not for nothing is it listed here among the top routes in the Ardennes. However, the footbridges in the Venn are unreasonable. The quality of Belgian hiking trails is well known by now, but this one had a certain risk of injury.
Today, in glorious weather, we went on a wonderful hike with some very dear friends. It took us through the Venn, through beautiful forests, along small streams, and to a lovely stop at the airfield where we could watch the skydivers. A wonderful day in great company.
With great weather, again in Spa today, this time in autumn. Crazy colors in the Venn, wide views to Kalterherberg, the Signal de Botrange or Tihange, the streams offered a lot and a great variety of mushrooms, mostly toadstools, porcini and chestnuts. It was pure balm for the soul
Did a great hike for the 4th time today, despite the heat a great hike, saw a lot of huge chestnuts and porcini mushrooms, a great night of flowers and a variety of greenery, great watched the skydivers at the Aérodôme de Spa with the obligatory boulet and beer, great An all-round successful day, always great prospects. (Yes, dogs are allowed there)
