Great hike. The snow made it a bit slippery in places, but it was still very easy to walk.
Highlights: Zweribach waterfalls Impressive natural spectacle. Surrounded by protected forest, the Zweribach waterfalls are idyllically located in the middle of a nature reserve. The water thunders down two large ledges into the valley. Hirschbach Falls The little brother of the Zweribach waterfalls on this tour, so to speak, and certainly no less impressive. View: Despite the fact that it is mainly a gorge tour, there are great views of the surrounding mountains and valleys in some places. The Vosges can also be seen. Paths: Paths are well signposted and well maintained. The paths in the protected forest are also fine, but should not be walked on carelessly.
A strenuous but breathtaking hike. The highlight is definitely the Zweribach Falls. You can get very close and, with great care, even stand underneath them a little higher up. An incredible feeling that can't be put into words. The starting point leads to the parking lot, but it belongs to the hotel. Luckily, we were able to park on the side of the road. Sturdy shoes and a lot of patience are necessary, but highly recommended. You have to see it in your life 💕
The Zweribach waterfalls are always worth a hike. Today we took an alternative route from the St. Peter sports field, first uphill and then down to the waterfalls on great, partly well-known paths. I personally like this tour almost better than my usual route here. It's better to walk the other way round, then the steeper path is on the ascent rather than the descent.... I'll definitely do it again!
We hiked along the panoramic trail with a view of the sea of fog in the Rhine plain in St. Märgen to the Zweribacher and Hirschbacher waterfalls. We were alone on the trails until midday and were able to really enjoy the time. On the way home we encountered an avalanche of cars all the way to Glottertal. This confirmed once again that we should always set off early in the morning.
With the heat, we are driven to the heights of the Black Forest. Beautiful tour of St. Märgen to the Zweribach waterfalls and back. Goes steeply down and up again but everything is easily doable.
After lunch we spontaneously decided to go hiking again. The starting point of our tour was the lion in St. Märgen. However, we still had to make a detour to the bakery because we left the backpack with the food at home 🙈🤣 That has never happened to me either. The first stretch is relatively unspectacular on asphalt and wide forest roads. The descent to the waterfalls begins at the Bannwaldhütte. The route is demanding, we scramble over hill and dale and are completely enchanted by the fairytale forest landscape. At the Brunne rest area we eat our sweet pastries and walk on to the Zweribach waterfalls, knowing that the most strenuous part of our hike follows. When the ascent is done, it first goes through the forest for a short while and we enjoy the great panorama for the last few kilometers. For me one of the most beautiful tours in the region.
Very late to bed, very late up and very late I decided to do this little tour. Since my multi-day alpine tour was canceled yesterday evening due to bad weather forecasts and snowfall, I finally use the Germany ticket today and take public transport to St. Märgen. That was actually not on my plan and at home there would be more than enough to do…. but only actually. With the best will in the world I can't stay at home in this beautiful weather! And the work doesn't run away from me (unfortunately). So quickly stuffed stuff in the backpack and off we went. The bus arrives in St. Märgen exactly at noon. The cows and sheep also have a siesta. I want to go to the Zweribach and Hirschbach falls and I hope that due to the rain of the last few days, they will carry more water than during my hike last year. Past the Rankmühle, the hiking trail runs to the Theehof on a paved road, then it goes on a forest path. The wayside is lined with ferns and raspberry bushes and I have to eat these delicacies again and again. It is wonderful how water drops pearl on the plant leaves. I leave the main path and hike up a great path to the Birkfelsen and continue along the Höhenweg and pass the beautiful Mättleweiher. Shortly afterwards I'm back on the main path. From the Bannwaldhütte, the path continues in the Bannwald on beautiful paths. I enjoy the view from the Hohwartfelsen, then I follow the rocky path to the Hirschbach Falls. Full of enthusiasm, I continue on the great alpine path to the beautifully situated rest area where the Brunnenhof once stood. I even meet a few people here. I take a break at this beautiful spot. Then I set off for the Zweribach Falls. It is always a beautiful spectacle and today it carries more water than when I was last there. Through the forest it goes up on a great path to Stockbühl. There are raspberries everywhere up there. It says from the bush to the throat. With or without proteins (as long as I don't see them, I don't care), they taste amazing! So I didn't need my Vespers at all. On forest paths I pass the Dr.Back hut. The Milchhisli or the fountain at the Gschwanderdobel is used for cooling a crate of beer. Through the forest, then at the edge of the forest past meadows, with a view of St. Peter and the Black Forest mountains, I pass the Kapfenkapelle. I hike to the Nimm-Platz on a beautiful path and path with wonderful views. Here I actually want to continue to the Birkweghof stop and take the bus for the journey home. But I spontaneously decide that the other culinary delights should not be neglected and hike to the Café Goldene Krone in St. Märgen, where I enjoy the super delicious currant cake with hazelnut meringue and a coffee in the café garden. The bus leaves exactly opposite and I can enjoy every minute. It was a nice end to a very nice day. Especially the paths to the Birkfelsen and Höhenweg and from the Bannwaldhütte to Stockbühl are a dream, as are the Hirschbach and Zweribach falls.
