After an ascent over a rather boring tar road, the round leads to the Teufelsmühle at a rather constant level. There are always beautiful views to the left and right of this high trail. The highlight is of course the view from the Teufelsmühle on the Rhine plain. Then it's back to the Hahnenfalz hut and then back down to the valley via a rocky, rather uncomfortable path.
Very nice tour in the snow. Paths are still easy to walk on. With a blue sky, a beautiful view, sunshine and a blanket of snow, the trip was absolutely worth it.
Today I took part in a hike for everyone organized by DAV Ettlingen. Start was the Oberes Geistal car park at 9:30 a.m. there was still a lot of space. It went straight up to the Hahnenfalzhütte and we started sweating profusely... vertical meters and fresh snow. In the direction of the Teufelsmühle we then took a path which one would not have been able to walk without snow...it was very reminiscent of a creek bed in my opinion. Thanks to the good orientation of the hiking guide, we got back on the main path and arrived at the Teufelsmühle, the first rest was taken. Unfortunately there was no nice view. The clouds hung quite low, it was foggy and it was snowing lightly. On the way back over the Langmartskopf through the beautiful winter forest, we passed the Hahnenpfalzhütte again, which was now open. We took the opportunity for a warm drink, a cute little hut with a large tiled stove. Via the Schweizer Kopfhütte we reached the Weithäuselplatz on now wide paths between the groomed cross-country ski run. Yes, walking in the snow is more strenuous. Only the sun was missing today, otherwise perfect.
We are planning a hike to the Teufelsmühle for our PWV Insheim. Today the views were not very nice, a great view from the Schweizer-Kopf-Hütte was only possible to a limited extent today. But in retrospect we were lucky here, because when we arrived at the Hahnenfelshütte, several mountains had already disappeared in the fog. At the Teufelsmühle we had amazingly beautiful views of the valley, almost without fog. But it was very stormy here, a short climb to the tower 🙄we quickly retreated to the Teufelsmühle. When we noticed that it was getting foggier, we set off on the way back. Now it was really mystical on the paths, everything mossy, stony and dark. The devil could still live here,🤭it then started to rain. The descent felt much longer and we were glad when we arrived at the parking lot. We have to start again here when the weather is nice, because the view on the hike is the be-all and end-all of the tour. 😎🤣
Wonderful, not too strenuous hike. The starting point at the Talwiesenschenke saves you a few meters of altitude, of course you can also start directly in Bad Herrenalb. The Gasthaus an der Teufelsmühle is currently closed, the Talwiesenschenke can only be recommended.
Hello everyone, Today I was out alone because there was no water and lots of sunny stretches. Not for Zoya.🙏🏻 But she had a great time with her mom. 😎 I wanted to go on a hike today with lots of peace and quiet and beautiful views. The Black Forest is perfect for that, and I found this trail. I've already done parts of it before and remembered how great it was.😍 The journey is long, but it was a good ride today, no traffic jams, and the area once you leave the highway is simply beautiful. At the parking lot, there's the Wildcat Trail – it's great, but I skipped it today. The trail normally goes in a different direction. But I wanted to go to the Devil's Mill first, so I chose this direction. The trails are simply fantastic: sandy, rocky, and rooty. It wasn't easy for me to walk over the stones, as I'm not exactly sure-footed at the moment, but the squirrel is laboriously feeding itself - but it's feeding itself and doesn't give up 😂. And so I reached the top and enjoyed the magnificent view at the Hahnenfalzhütte - it's listed here as the Maienberghütte highlight, but that's wrong - or maybe it has both names?? From here, the path continues on a gravel path and then again over the ridge on great forest and rock paths. Wonderful! And that's how you get to the Teufelsmühle (Devil's Mill) - and the tower with it. And from here, you have a wonderful view of the Black Forest and the plains and beyond. I actually wanted to climb the tower...but there's a spiral steel staircase inside the tower, and you can look through it...oh man...that's absolutely not for me...not alone.... So I turned around and enjoyed the view anyway. 😍 Then it's a great walk again, followed by a long gravel path to the Schweizerkopf. There are more beautiful views here. Then the tour continues along gravel paths with frequent viewpoints and then, "unfortunately," descends onto an asphalt path to the parking lot. You have to endure this for about 2.5 km. Maybe another route is possible, I haven't found out. It wasn't bad, but of course the other paths are much nicer and easier to walk. I didn't meet many people; for long stretches, I was completely alone and enjoyed the wonderful peace and quiet. Just the wind and the occasional birdsong. And very pleasant temperatures – I only noticed the warmth when I got back down from the mountain – wow... Now Zoya and I are enjoying the remaining rays of sunshine on our terrace. The weather is supposed to change tomorrow. And so, we send you our warmest greetings on what may be the last real summer day of the year. Have a nice evening ☘️🙋♀️🌸❤️
Today we set off from the Talwiesenschänke in the Gaistal Valley, where there's a large parking lot. The trail initially leads away from the Teufelsmühle (Devil's Mill) before returning to the Teufelsmühle via scenic heights. The road closure from the previous day was still in place, but the route was easily adapted via the Albursprungweg (Albur Spring Trail).
The AugenBlick loop climbs gently from the starting point to Weithäusleplatz. The Westweg trail continues past Himmelsliegen (sky loungers) to the fantastic view from AugenBlick at the Schweizerkopfhütte. The trail branches off at the Hahnenfalzhütte, which is occasionally open for dining. The further loop via the Steinerne Sitzbank (stone bench) to the Teufelsmühle (devil's mill) should definitely be included. At the Teufelsmühle, you can enjoy the fantastic view from the tower, and refreshments await you at the inn for the descent. The trail descends along narrow, rocky paths past the Hahnenfalzhütte to the starting point. Source: https://www.naturpark-augenblicke.de/augenblicke/badherrenalb.html A beautiful loop at the beginning of the hiking season. Highly recommended. There's still some remnant snow. The sunshine added to the fun of the hike, even though it was only 5-9 degrees.
