This beautiful circular route takes you across the Black Mountains, the southernmost ridge of the Rhön and one of the largest nature reserves in Bavaria. There are species-rich nutrient-poor grasslands, mixed spruce and beech forests and, of course, fast-paced single trails.
Current route information, closures and diversions are communicated in the Rhön via the official website www.kuppen-biken.de from the district of Bad Kissingen. You can also report problems regarding the condition of the path or markings here.
As a starting point for the tour, we recommend the Vier Eichen car park near the village of Schildeck, just a two-minute drive from the A7 motorway. There is a beautiful 600m long single trail for 2.5 km and 140 meters of altitude difference if you start from Geroda (parking lot at the mobile home site) via a marked feeder.
An absolute highlight of the tour is the summit of the 737 meter high Platzer Kuppe. For many, the treeless hilltop with the summit cross is one of the most beautiful hilltops in the Rhön. On clear days, with a bit of luck, visibility extends 100 kilometers to the west. Then the tower on the Hohen Feldberg in the Taunus can be seen. The tour scores above all with the constant change of surfaces. Single trails such as the Kalkberg trail or the cross-country trail on the crest of the Black Mountains alternate with forest and meadow paths. And if a piece of asphalt has to be put under the tires, the view will certainly make up for it!
