Finally walked the extra tour Königsweg! Parked in the car park in front of the Wandelhalle (Bad Brückenau state spa) and off we went. Most of the route is only in the forest, so it's great to walk even in warm weather. First along the Sinn, then steeper climbs to Volkers (beautiful view) Wonderful forest paths with protruding stones and roots. There are a few points of interest along the way, such as the old well house, Moorteich, etc. At the end you come back above the state spa and can stroll through the spa park again. Some of the climbs require good fitness. Very nice tour, recommended!
Beautiful round through a lot of lonely forest and right through the bustling state bath Bad Brückenau. Start in Volkers, just a few km from the autobahn.

Today I did the next extra tour near Bad Brückenau. Very beautiful, mainly in the forest, on natural paths and trails. Uphill and downhill, just like in the Rhön. You can see that the paths are washed away in heavy rain. At the end it goes along the Sinn and ends in the spa park
There are great extra tours in the Rhön, not so great extra tours and there is one tour that doesn't really deserve the "extra" label. And we did exactly this "extra tour" today. Although, given the heat that prevailed, the "King's Trail" near Bad Brückenau was actually exactly the right tour. It went almost entirely through the forest, with no real vantage point, and if it hadn't been for the state spa with its magnificent buildings and parks, I might have been annoyed that we drove so far. Unfortunately, despite the shade, it was much too hot for my little one, so I dropped her off at Washington Square as a precaution and walked to the car up to Volkers alone. So, now I only have five of the thirty-five extra tours left to do.
Once again, the journey was the goal. The K from the Königsweg starts and ends in the beautiful park of Bad Brückenau. The route is varied with a "warming" mountain classification. The detour with a stop at the monastery tavern on the Volkersberg is certainly not a mistake ;-). The way back is relatively quick via beautiful forest paths (trails 😉) only down the valley. The circle closes and our conclusion: it was nice - gladly again.
The “Extratour Königsweg” offers a wonderful forest bath. At first I had to take a route parallel to the actual route because of closed bridges, but it was a manageable route. We then went uphill into the forest, along a longer panoramic path above Bad Brückenau and then even higher and deeper into the wonderful forest. I rarely manage to take pictures of the forest, so the number of photos is manageable. This was my third special tour in the Rhön and so far they have all been very different, but also highly recommended 👍.
