The extra tour forest fire near Schwärzelbach teaches hikers how fine spirits are made and offers beautiful views in several places. In the Vorderrhön near Hammelburg I hike through forest and fields and enjoy the beautiful day. Rather easy extra tour on well paved paths through the Franconian-Rhöner border area. Display boards along the way provide information about the process of distilling schnapps. There are some seating options for breaks. One or the other view completes the forest tour. The tour is probably even more fun when there is snow. The various distilleries in the area invite schnapps connoisseurs to linger.
In a forum about the Rhöner Extratouren I had read that this route was supposed to be totally boring. After this tour I can only say that he really isn't. Maybe some people should just go through the world with open eyes.
On the Wald-Brand extra tour, I would have liked to see more climbs than forest paths. Nevertheless, there are impressive views over the Vorderrhön and a lot of cultural history about distilling and burning.
