The tour starts and finishes at the large parking lot in Haselgrund. If you're feeling the rush of using the restroom, there's still time to do so: the public restroom is comparatively clean. It's open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the summer months and from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the winter. The Weinberg Nature Reserve gives its name to this extra tour, which leads from the leisure and recreation facilities at Haselsee Lake via the Bomberg and Weinberg mountains to an extensive limestone grassland area. The Via Regia viewpoint on the Rößberg mountain offers wonderful views of the Haune Valley, the Hochrhön Mountains, and the Hessian Kegelspiel (Hessian Skittles). Plant lovers can enjoy many rare species along the trail. In addition to the silver thistle, the "heraldic flower of the Rhön," there are many rare orchids to admire. In spring, you can also find masses of pasque flowers.
Today I didn't feel like going to the "forest" so I went to the Rhön 😄 Until shortly before departure I had three tours to choose from; but since I wanted to spare Loky a bit, I chose the shortest one. I chose the extra tour "Vineyard". Unfortunately the sun only shone for a short time today, but it was still a great tour. The paths are easy to walk and varied. There is a great view from the observation tower. The special highlight is the Haselsee. There is a nature trail and a few fairy tale characters here. So many people have already done and described the extra tour "Vineyard" that I don't need to go into it in detail. I would just like to share a few findings: 1. The vineyard is not a vineyard as you know it in Franconia! 2. The "Hessian skittle game" is not a sport! 3. The Via Regia observation tower is an attraction, but pretty ugly (I think they could have made more of it) 4. A Komootler I know personally and who loves warmth would have had a lot of fun today - there isn't really much shade. Overall, a round trip worthy of the title "Premium Trail"👍🏻, but it lacks places to stop for refreshments along the way. There are also only water/bathing opportunities for your four-legged friend at the beginning and end of the tour. But you can look forward to varied paths and great views.
Varied tour Unfortunately no refreshments on the way
Starting point of this tour: To Haselsee in 36088 Hünfeld. Those with larger vehicles (i.e., vehicles with a height of 2.20 meters or more) can park for free in front of Haselsee at the Bürgerpark. A beautiful tour with views of the area. The Via Regia viewing platform is particularly noteworthy. There is a construction site between Großenbach and Haselsee. The path is still open for hikers. However, the pole with the signposts will be off to the side for the time being. The tour continues with the Ulmenstein extra tour. It is directly on the way home and is very well signposted. The route is only 8 kilometers long.
Since the tour is always highly praised, I ran it with Tom (dog) today. And I tell you, you are all right. A wonderful tour through beautiful nature with fantastic views. Seen red kites and wild orchids, dreamed of skittles on the bench in great weather, what could be nicer. I didn't run the tour for the last time 😃

Made the next extra tour today, the first for this year. Very varied and not too much asphalt. I didn't record the part from and to the train station. A strong wind blew on the observation tower, but still great weather and great nature 👍. Nice round 🙋♂️ LG RM PS I will upload more pictures later, Komoot is stalling a bit 🤷♂️

A nice, interesting route; the signage is a bit confusing in places. Perhaps it could be improved.
