This route was planned by komoot.
Today we used the glorious weather for the first bike tour of the year. The tour is relatively unspectacular. Emils Wirtshaus is grandiose and definitely to be recommended: unbeatable in terms of hospitality and warmth. Otherwise, the tour lived on the good air and the half-hour break in front of the Saline in Bad Rothenfelde.
The Grenzgängerrund with its 3 parts is a really nice bike route. You almost always drive on asphalt. Most of the time, these are side streets that are really hardly used. Traffic density is maybe one car every 10 minutes. Only when it goes through towns is there more going on. The route also has a lot to offer in terms of landscape. I give it 5 stars for the Grenzgängerrunde.
We started the 3rd stage of the border crossing route in Versmold. It again mostly ran on quiet back roads. 🙂 In the Bad Rothenfelde area up to Dissem we rode - on cycle paths - mostly on main roads. 🥲 Our conclusion: With a few exceptions, we liked the three border crossing routes and enjoyed the beautiful landscape. The weather was cool, but ideal for cycling. 🤗👍😄
Where smugglers secretly brought valuable salt across the border between the kingdoms of Prussia and Hanover in the 18th century, the Teuto-Ems Border Crossing Route now runs 148 kilometers through magnificent landscapes and picturesque towns. The route can be traveled in three stages or as a single route. My route does not correspond to the original route at certain intersections.
Today we did the first of the 3 cross-border cross-border tours. We started in Borgholzhausen via Versmold Bad Rothenfelde Dissen back to Borgholzhausen. The route leads almost exclusively over field paths and side roads. There is also a small single trail section. Only the through town of Versmold takes you along a busy road. Many rest areas and benches invite you to take a break. We will definitely do the other two tours too. Kind regards, Werner
After the heat yesterday, today with pleasant temperatures by car to Borkholzhausen, and then with the bikes to Bockhorst, Versmold, Bad Rothenfelde very nice bike ride. I liked Bockhorst best with the church and the half-timbered houses.

The final tour on the border crossing route:
Today's focus was on the beautiful Teuto-Ems Circuit 3.
This post concludes my short series on the Teuto-Ems Border Crossing Route.
3 beautiful circuits,
3 completely different experiences.
Circuit 3 impresses with short climbs, sweeping views, and plenty of nature
