Add some spice to the blue-rated Terry's Belly trail with two sections of Hot Stepper. These are more technical, red-rated singletrack sections that link up well with the flow trail to the far south of the Bike Park Wales hillside, which will really test you on the rock drops and slicker, rootier and more natural terrain.

From the summit, you'll first need to take the pedally traverse to the start of Terry's Belly, next to Root Manoeuvres.

The start of this blue trail is ace, with sweeping berms and a couple of little rollers, before a series of half-berms leading you onto the fire road before the next section.

Here you have your first choice, with part one of the Hot Stepper track kicking off with a sizeable rock drop. If you don't fancy it at first, stick to Terry's Belly and check out the second half of Hot Stepper later, which is a bit easier.

The second part of Hot Stepper's start is easy to miss: look out for a rock roll-in to your right after you've rejoined Terry's Belly. From here you ride into a muddy channel and down into the woods, navigating between roots and small rock drops that sometimes have blind landings. This is definitely the kind of trail that you can take to once you've ridden it a couple of times and know what's coming up.

For the last section, rejoin Terry's Belly, leaving the tech behind for a blast of a final section down to the fire road before a wee pedal back up to the uplift.

Hot Stepper Part 2 (Red Trail)

Highlight (Segment) • MTB Park

This is the second part of Hot Stepper, a red-rated trail that weaves in and out of Terry's Belly to the far right of the trails as you start from the mountain summit.

This second half of Hot Stepper is a little easier than the first, but still features lots of rock drops. Although these aren't huge, they often have blind landings so it's a good idea to ride this one a couple of times so you can be confident with what's ahead of you.

At the end you rejoin Terry's Belly for a fast and very flowy finish before a little traverse back to the uplift bus.

Bike Park Wales Uplift Shuttle

Highlight • Rest Area

This is where you'll find the uplift buses for Bike Park Wales. You'll need to book to use these with a day pass, but it's so worth it as you'll be able to get so many more runs in and save your legs for the descents!

To get here from the trail centre and café, take the trail named Kermit to the left of the building, or alternatively you can pedal up the fire road.
