Hiking

The tour connects the fox and pigeon ponds which were created in the 16th century for the purpose of rafting. At the end you can still enjoy a wonderful view over Rosenthal. With the exception of the upper Hühnerbergweg, everything can be used with a pram. As a tip, skip the Taubeteich and enjoy the time at the Fuchsteich.

Start at the bus stop: walk to the Schneeberger Kreuz in Rosenthal-Bielatal with the following bus lines:

217: (Pirna) - Bahratal - Petrovice - Tisa - Sneznik - Rosenthal - (Königstein)

242: Bielatal line: Königsstein-Rosenthal-Schneeberg-Tisa and back

245: Bielatal Line: Pirna-Leupoldishain-Rosenthal and back

Alternatively, the Zollhäuser car park can be used, which is subject to a fee.

Along the Fuchsbachstraße you get to the Fuchsteich, which invites you to linger with a covered seating area. After a rest, it goes over the upper Hühnerbergweg in the direction of Taubenteich. When you arrive at the pigeon pond, there are again various resting options available. Here you can also marvel at a shelter that was planned/built by architecture students from the TU Dresden.

The way back runs along the middle Hühnerbergweg, past Willis Ruh (Trekkinghütte Forststeig). At the beginning of the old Tetschner Straße there is another bank, which invites you to linger. At the end of the old Tetschner Straße you can still enjoy the vantage point "die Heide", which offers a good view of Rosenthal. Finally, it goes back to the bus stop via the Sommerhübelweg.

Fox Pond

Highlight • Lake

Today it is a small reservoir with biotope. Previously, it was used for rafting (short version: weir on, tree trunks washed away ^ ^).
Quietly located, the Fuchsteich invites you to take a break.

Trekking hut "Willys Ruh"

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Willys Ruh is available to hikers for a night or to take a break from April to October.

It sleeps about 20 people, ten in bunk beds downstairs and at least ten more on the newly renovated sleeping loft. There is a tiled stove with an open fire in the main room and a fireplace in the bedroom, seating and a composting toilet outside. The next source of water is probably the Taubenbach (about one and a half kilometers and about 100 meters in altitude away.

You need trekking tickets (can be purchased in advance, for example, at Bad Schandau train station, Globetrotter Dresden or Camp4 in Berlin) worth 10 euros per adult and 1 euro per child (up to 17 years of age). The ticket is validated on the day of the overnight stay by entering the date and thrown into a corresponding box.

The early bird..... is not really my type, as I was going to have a picnic in the forest with friends, so I made an exception. The cool wind was blowing quite nicely in Rosenthal and the picnic at the Taubenteich was supposed to be a nice one. 🧺
We went from the Zollhäuser car park to the Kristin Hradek …

The beginning is not accessible by car. There is a parking lot at the very end of Rosenthal, 700 m from there. Almost the entire tour is asphalt or gravel. Only the short path to the pigeon pond is a hiking trail. But it is a beautiful forest area.
