E-Bike pedal up climb — Bike Park Wales

00:29

2.27km

Mountain biking

If you're riding an e-bike, or just love steep climbs, then this is the most direct route to the top of Bike Park Wales and the trailhead. Be warned though, it is steep.

Start out on the same track as Beast of Burden, the main pedal up trail that's more friendly on the legs. Then you'll divert onto a rocky bridleway, before taking the last section up through the trees to the top.

There's gradients up to 25%, and you'll cover 220 metres of ascent in 2.27 kilometres of ascent (722 feet in 1.4 miles) so it's one best left to those with some motor help!

This is the 'C5' route on the Bike Park Wales maps.

For a more gentle alternative, check out the Beast of Burden climb: https://www.komoot.com/tour/630305263

BikePark Wales Trail Centre

Highlight • Cafe

This is the central hub of Bike Park Wales, with the ticketing office where you can pick up your day pass (pedal up or uplift), a fantastic café, a bike shop with a workshop and bike hire and a pump track.

Handily, there are a few bike racks and plenty of seating here too, as well as a bike wash so you can take your bike home looking fresh! My go-to are the loaded fries for lunchtime, and they make a pretty mean hot chocolate too.

C5 Pedal Up Climb, BikePark Wales

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

This is part of Bike Park Wales' C5 pedal up route, which is the most direct way to get to the top of the hill and trailhead from the trail centre.

This route is by far best on an e-bike, as there are some really steep sections up to 25% gradients, yikes!

For a more mellow pedal up, check out the Beast of Burden route, which is nearly twice as long but much less strenuous.

BikePark Wales Trailhead

Highlight • Viewpoint

Top of Bike Park Wales, there is a huge variation of trails starting here, green, blues, reds and blacks. There is something for everyone. However you will need a day pass to ride in the park.
