Hiking

From the boat dock in Salet am Königssee, a level footpath leads past the Salet-Alm restaurant directly to the western shore of Lake Obersee. From there, you'll enjoy a stunning view of the lake and the mountain backdrop beyond. The large boulders along the path between Lake Königssee and Lake Obersee originate from a rockfall in 1172.
From Lake Obersee, you can continue hiking to the Fischunkelalm on the opposite shore. This path is no longer accessible from Lake Obersee (rock steps).
The walking time is approximately 1 hour (depending on the number of people).

Salet Pier at Lake Königssee

Highlight • Rest Area

Those who stop here directly at the inn are missing out on something! Better to hike to the Obersee and (if you have good shoes) continue to the Fischunkelalm. A visit to the nearby Saletalm is also worthwhile.
The Salet stop is the last stop for shipping on the Königssee. From here it goes back towards St.Bartolomää.

According to legend, the land was once ruled by the cruel King Waze or Wazemann, who spread fear and terror with his wife and children. When he crushed a farming family with his horse, the farmer's wife cursed that God should turn him and his family into stone. Then the earth opened, spit fire and turned the king and his family into stone. In some variants of the legend is still told that the king and Obersee had arisen by the merged blood of the royal family and Watzmanns dogs crashed at the dog death

Saletalm

Highlight • Mountain Hut

If you are translating from Königsee to Salet, you should not fall into the restaurant right at the pier, but walk a little further to the Saletalm. It's much prettier and more beautiful. For hikers who want to go up to the Kärlingerhaus, the hut actually comes a little early ;).

The appearance of the Saletbach, which can now find its own way into the Königssee after the renaturation in the mouth area, is visually appealing and an enrichment for the flora and fauna
...
Structures that are as close to nature as possible were restored, thus creating improved living and breeding conditions for fish species such as bullhead and lake trout as well as for various aquatic insects.
...
The cultural and historical value of the almost 600 meter long former drift canal between Obersee and Königssee is preserved, only the last 50 meters of the canal in the immediate mouth area were renaturalized.

Stunningly beautiful landscape, unfortunately overflowing. You have to see it. If possible not on weekends!
