Great Weissensee loop - Mountain biking on Lake Weissensee

If you are out and about with your bike in the region around the Weissensee, then you should not miss this wonderful tour! It leads you once around the idyllic water, which, viewed from near and far, shimmers in ever different shades of blue. Not only the view is fantastic: Here you can relax on the cleanest lake in Carinthia and enjoy the special healing climate. By the way, you also make a little effort, because this tour also makes a few small detours into the surrounding mountains.

You start in Techendorf and circle the lake clockwise. Right at the beginning there is a steep uphill, because the bike path leads along the steep north bank around 250 meters above the water surface. From here the view of the lake is particularly beautiful! After a rapid descent you will reach the east bank, where you can take a break at the lido. You can treat yourself to a snack or refreshment at the kiosk. There is a small landing stage nearby, from which the excursion boats across the lake leave. If you like, you can sail from here all the way back to Techendorf.

Instead, the tour continues around the lake. In doing so, it leaves the immediate bank, because in the south there is no direct path along the water. In the mountains on the surrounding alpine pastures, however, it is at least as beautiful. At the managed Fischeralm you can fortify yourself with regional delicacies and enjoy the wonderful mountains. Then you can simply roll back down to the lake and enjoy the last few kilometers on the gravel bike path right by the water, which will bring you back to the starting point of the tour in Techendorf.
