Holidays like Brahms? On the Slow Trail Brahmsweg, you can learn about the history of the former fishing village of Pörtschach, where the composer Johannes Brahms preferred to spend his summer months. Today's tourism centre on the Wörthersee is the venue for the annual international Brahms competition – and there is much more to marvel at here.

The world-famous composer Johannes Brahms discovered Pörtschach on the Wörthersee in 1877, found joy and inspiration here, and left his mark during his summer stays. In the village, you can walk in his footsteps and, on beautiful summer days, go for a swim in the crystal-clear, turquoise-blue Wörthersee. It starts at the tourist information office on the Werzerpromenade.

Your path will lead you, among other places, to the Villi Kino on Monte-Carlo-Platz, to Leonstain Castle, to the High and Low Gloriette, and to the Leonstein Castle ruins. From everywhere, you can enjoy the view over the lake and the Karawanken mountains. The Brahmsweg is a wonderful ensemble of culture, music, and the most beautiful nature!

For your hike on the Brahmsweg, you will easily find various parking spaces in Pörtschach – for example, directly at the train station.

On every Slow Trail, you can be accompanied by a corresponding podcast. You can listen to the podcast for the Slow Trail Brahmsweg here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2033205/episodes/11556662-episode-2-der-brahmsweg
