Gravel riding
A testing urban off road ride around the edges of the Thames and some areas not often explored on the bike. If you have the right ride and the spirit of adventure this is a rewarding ride. Check Tilbury ferry times before tackling though.

Wanted to do this ride for such a long time! Ridden along the Thames Path many times to Woolwich, but never further... On Friday I pedalled straight over to Woolwich, before joining the river and heading west. My first stop was the strange swirl that is Gallions Hill for a view. Some nice gravel when you reach the Darent river, and as you pass under the Dartford bridge. Just missed the ferry in Gravesend, and while killing time in town some Christians baptised me outside McDonalds. Riding back on the north side of the river was almost eerie at times, a disjointed path with plenty of steps and brick walls covered in graffiti. I'd like to go back at explore Rainham Marshes, but the slog back through Dagenham & Barking was as boring as I remember it being. Finished off with the cable and ride back around the Greenwich peninsula. Highly recommended day out!
