This route was planned by komoot.
What had been feared yesterday in Ried in Rhine-Hesse, but did not materialize, has now become reality today: road closures due to flooding. The Horloff hadn't overflowed at all, but the lower meadow behind the bridge had turned into a stately lake. This did little to harm the southern loop of the Hungen circular route, but it was still a nice lap.
Very nice path, also feasible for children. Many information boards about the Romans and the Limes
* or: "Around the Hungen gas station". Somehow it was visible from afar. April weather today. Hourly changing weather reports made it difficult to choose the hiking route. There was probably only a guarantee of sun on the mountain road (later saw that it was also overgrown here, but with larger sections of blue sky). I have no idea what then drove us to the northern edge of the Roman Empire. Probably the shorter journey. Two highlights (church and castle) at the start of the tour raised expectations to an immeasurable level, which continued until we reached the Jewish cemetery. At the latest after reaching the monument "Hungener gas station" visible from afar and the wasteland between the gas station and the new development area Indheiden, our tour guides felt the malice of a trail-spoiled hiking pack. In view of the overall route, the whining in this section was a bit exaggerated, maybe it was because of the nice gas station or the impenetrability of the new development area. A mulled wine for all six protagonists from the guides at the Trais-Horloffer See (beach bar) and the visit to the Steinheimer Heide with its apocalyptic lakes calmed the spirits, even if the promised sun didn't materialize. Or just because of that. For that, (quote, see below) "wonderful mood lighting" - if that's nothing... 4°C and a good breeze drove the pack into the next hiking highlight - a mountain trail along the northern Wetterau Limes, the real highlight next to the End time lakes, and the castle, and the church and the gas station... At the end there was coffee and cake for everyone at the picnic bench next to the Evangl. City Church in Hungen. If that isn't a hiking luxury. But next time again trail hike…

The south loop is the middle tour of the Hungen circular trail and takes you through Hungen Switzerland and to the idyllic shore of the Inheidener/Trais-Horloffer Lake.
Your hike begins at the car park at the Hungen town hall and immediately takes you south to the town centre of Hungen. A good opportunity
