Fantastic views from shady benches and a wonderful refreshment in the reservoir make this almost ten kilometer tour on the Felsquellweg a perfect experience - even more so in summery temperatures.
It starts at the parking lot near the Oberdigisheim reservoir. The path leads you leisurely uphill, past former fish…

From the reservoir, the path leads through the beautiful, secluded Kohlstattbrunnenbach valley past the stream "stairs" and the spring up to the plateau. You pass the district of Geyerbad and reach the Sommerhaldenfels with a bench and a great view. Continue up and down to the Hohlen Fels (view of Oberdigisheim) and again, sometimes steeply, down into the valley. At the end, you can walk around the beautiful reservoir, which is a bathing lake in summer.
Last time I was here was in 2020 😉 the route was even more strenuous than today 😇😂 Sorry for the double...
From the parking lot at the Oberdigisheim reservoir, the trail continues through the Kohlstattbrunnental valley, past the stream terraces and the spring, up to the plateau. Beautiful panoramic views of Plettenberg, the Alb plateau, and Obernheim await. Continue past the Geyerbad district to the Sommerhaldenfels and Hohler Fels viewing cliffs. Then, the trail descends back into the valley and, above Oberdigisheim, through a beautiful juniper heath toward the parking lot. Finally, a loop around the reservoir, where you can also swim, follows.
What a lovely afternoon round. 🌞👌 The Felsquellweg, one of the Meßstetter Hochalb trails, has its charm especially in winter. The weather was ideal. At the parking lot the 🌡❄❄❄ thermometer showed +2 degrees. 3 hours later it was a frosty -6 degrees. The sun and the sky did their best. We even had a view of the Alps. Very clear to the naked eye, audible to the cell phone, but ... well. 🤔 At the beginning of the round it splashes left and right, you can hear and see how the path gets its name. After the ascent to the plateau you have a wonderful wide view. The snow in the sun stimulates the senses and lifts the mood. 🤗😍🌞 Fine forest paths that belonged to us alone provide variety. You pass Geyerbad, a jewel in Meßstetten, where time seems to have stood still about 100 years ago. We pass 2 lookout rocks before going down again and then along the other side of the bank to the parking lot, where our car is waiting for us lonely. This tour can currently also be done with snowshoes. Grödel should definitely be. At times it goes quite steeply downhill. With Grödel or snowshoes, we can unreservedly recommend this varied round. 😊👌👍
The hike with my sweetheart starts from the parking lot, which is free, and first leads to the lake. The lake is divided into two parts: a swimming area 🏊♀️ and a fishing area. We set off early in the morning, and the mystical mist that settled over the water immediately captivated us. 📸 Trees and individual buildings are reflected in the water.📸 After crossing the road, the path on the right led up directly to the Hochalbtour trail. A narrow path lined with rustic trees made our hikers' hearts beat faster. We deliberately chose the route in this direction to tackle the steep climb. Once at the top, we were rewarded with a magnificent view. A table, four benches, and a lounger invited us for a short rest. Along the way, we were able to observe many butterflies. 🦋 From then on, the path continued steadily downhill, with undulating terrain. Overall, it was a great tour.👩❤️👨😎👍 Incl. 🍺☕️🍽👌
What a beautiful circular route. Very well signposted. The path leads along the lake over meadows and through the forest with wonderful views. I enjoyed the round very much.
This morning I looked out of the window and there was just a foggy soup again. What to do on the plain or a little higher up? We decided to go higher up and drove to Oberdigisheim. Unfortunately not such a great decision. The fog there was thicker than at home. We parked at the hiking car park "Oberer Stausee". This is free of charge. We then followed the signs for "HochAlbPfad". The first highlight was the Kohlstattbrunnenbach spring. We continued to the AP Sommerhaldenfelsen and Hohler Fels. The view today was zero. This round ended after about 8.2 km. We then circled the Oberdigisheim reservoir. On the way we passed the Kneipp facility. The water temperature in the lake and in the Kneipp facility is still a pleasant temperature. Conclusion: The round is very well signposted. There is a public toilet facility at the hiking car park. Very well maintained. When the weather is better we will do this tour again and visit the AP.
A spontaneous hike with new hiking gear from GONZO / Maier Sport (Albstadt) and I was ready for a tour on the Alp in Tailfingen. The plan was a lovely hike down the slopes – but I was surprised at the parking lot: all access points were closed due to a cycling race that weekend. 🛑 After a quick rethink, I came across the reservoir in Oberdigisheim – it sounded exciting, was separate from the cycling race 🚴🏼♀️, and spontaneously became my new destination. I wish you all an eventful and sunny weekend! 🌞
