Scream for joy! On this tour, you may well get by with one or the other “Juchiza”, because “Extreme Scream” is a superlative gravel circuit. A balanced relationship between solid and loose ground means that you can make good progress on the one hand, but also move your gravel bike on species-appropriate terrain on the other. The tour is named after the “Schreiende Brunnen” waterfall in Hörndlinger Graben near Fieberbrunn, which you will pass at the end of the tour.

The cycle path leads out of the Glemmtal. In the Saalachtal you drive on cozy side streets with a great panorama to Saalfelden. Then the Saalachtal becomes narrower and you follow the Tauern cycle path. You leave this at Lofer and turn into the Strubtal. After great sections on gravel and on bike paths you reach Waidring, where you continue south to Pillersee. The wonderfully cool Pillersee invites you to take a refreshing swim, and there are also opportunities to have a bite to eat.

The next destination after cooling off is Pfaffenschwandt, a district of Fieberbrunn, which you reach after an enjoyable section on nice side roads. Here you branch off to the south and follow the road for a while. At a parking lot after an inn you follow a forest road to the right into the Hörndlingergraben. You gravel through the forest along the Großache, the slope is pleasant.

Then you reach the wild and romantic waterfall. The “screaming fountains” are fed by small brooks that plunge down into the valley from the Wildseeloder, Fieberbrunn's local mountain. Enjoy the beautiful place and gather your strength, because now the steep climb up towards Bernkogel follows. In numerous bends it goes uphill until you reach the saddle below the Bernkogel. Now the descent leads towards the famous Spielberghaus and then back to the starting point.

Schreiende Brunnen Falls

Highlight • Waterfall

The Screaming Fountain is the outlet of the Wildseelodersee lake. Here the water emerges from the mountain into a stream. Nothing special, but a nice destination for children.

Spielbergweg

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

As the name suggests, the Spielbergweg takes you as easily as possible up to the Spielberghaus or back down to Saalbach. The only way to get there in a more relaxed way is by cable car.

Someone put the mouse in my shoe, so it has to come with me.

Showing Translation

Lots of paved roads. Only the climb to Saig Hochalm is unpaved. The difficulty level is at the end of the route. The rest is fairly flat.
