Hello everyone, Today we decided to go on a bike ride – we chose a less strenuous tour that was also manageable for my dear Nicole. We first cycled from Münsingen into the Heutal valley and then turned off in Unterheutal to Bremelau. We then passed the Kochstetten farm and descended into the Lautertal valley to Indelhausen. From Indelhausen, we followed the Lautertal cycle path. Along the Lauter River, we passed Weiler, Gundelfingen, Bichishausen, Hundersingen, and Buttenhausen. Then came a long climb towards Münsingen past the Ziegelhäuser (brick houses), from where we took another short descent back to Münsingen. A pit stop at the Bauhofstüble (building farm) in Bichishausen was a must today. I highly recommend the Bauhofstüble. Regional cuisine, homemade cakes, and homemade bread – it was simply delicious. Opening hours now from June (until September) daily except Thursday - which is a day of rest.
Beautiful tour with beginning / end in Wittsteig and the castles of Derneck and Hohengundelfingen (hard ascent - 130HM over 1.3km!) as the highlight
Very nice today: The Lautertal from Dapfen downstream to Indelhausen. Simply fantastic! Very good paths away from vehicle traffic, right next to the Lauter. It makes many loops here and numerous castle ruins line the valley. Lots of seating by the water and one or two outhouses show that the planners had something in mind. Rock formations are reminiscent of the upper Danube valley. At the moment (2023-09-21) the Lautertal cycle path between Wittsteig and Weiler is closed and you have to switch to the country road. This is not a problem during the week. However, we also had a bit of bad luck: a sneaker whose cause couldn't be found. The original plan was to return to Dapfen via Indelhausen - Granheim - Hütten - Schamental - Münsingen - Fauserhöhe. As an alternative, we considered taking the Swabian Alb Railway from Sondernach to Marbach, but does it also run? According to the internet... We ultimately decided to take the shortest possible route via Bremelau - Buttenhausen to the starting point (following the map, like before). We managed to do this with repeated pumping. Finding: Carrying tools and replacement materials is not always enough. EKS in the Dapfen warehouse. The positive: We saw places and paths that we would never have found without a breakdown. The Alb has once again shown itself from its most beautiful side.
