Hochalb-Tour auf den Höhen Meßstettens – Radtouren Zollernalb

As the name suggests: the tour starts high up, more precisely in the highest town of Baden-Württemberg, Meßstetten. There are heights to climb and Alb to enjoy. One or the other hearty climb awaits you on the 43-kilometer tour - and with a little luck you will even be accompanied by a flock of sheep. They are at home on the rough Alb and shape the barren Alb plateau with the unique juniper heaths.

On the way you will pass various interesting places: the game reserve in Meßstetten, the Mariengrotte in Nusplingen and the Oberdigisheim reservoir with Kneipp basin, which tempts you to take a long break, especially on hot days. In Tieringen, the barefoot path is inviting - a blessing for tired cyclists' legs.

Shortly before the end you will reach the sculpture panorama path on the Sickersberg. Those who still climb this enjoy a wonderful view - in good weather even as far as the Alps.

If you don't want to miss the chance to take a look over Nusplingen and our immediate surroundings with rocks and dense beech forests, we recommend a detour to the Marienfelsen. Enjoy the view over our green mountains!

The Marienfelsen not only protrudes from the treetops as a "prime example" of a Jura rock, it is also a geological rarity: a natural limestone-tuff grotto. A statue of the Mother of God has been in it since 1898. The grotto is a popular place of prayer, because then as now, people trust in the help of Our Lady. The parish also celebrates its May devotions in the grotto.

Above the reservoir there is also a nice playground, ideal for a break on a hike if you don't have your bathing suit with you.

The sculpture path along the Sickersberg impresses not only with the twelve ornate sculptures that line it: When the weather is right, you have an incredible view that extends as far as the Alps.

In the fog we wanted to go to the heights of Heinstetten, Tieringen and Meßstetten🥴.
However, that was only partially successful. Despite all that, it was a nice tour. We'll have to do it again when the visibility is better 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️
