The full Albtrauf program awaits you on this approximately one hundred kilometer route in the Göppingen district. The start is the city center of Geislingen an der Steige. Here you will either find a parking space at the nearby shopping center or you can travel by train. The local train station is not far from the starting point, about one kilometer southeast of the route.
At the beginning you follow the Eyb on gently rising paths through the valley of the same name and, as it should be for a proper tour, after only a few kilometers you will be served some great highlights: If you still need a few more calories for the tour, you can Treat yourself to a delicious, freshly smoked trout in the Obere Roggenmühle, otherwise the so-called Mordloch, a legendary cave in the karst rock of the Swabian Alb, awaits you shortly afterwards.
Shortly after Treffelhausen you have successfully mastered the first ascent and turn south on the Alb plateau. Here, too, a few meters in altitude accumulate, because on the further route you follow a steady up and down, cross the European watershed, cross a small valley near Amstetten, drive through the nature reserve Vögelestal and Oberes Lontal and crank your way up and down the plateau piece by piece up until you have finally reached the apex of the route at Donstetten at around 850 meters.
From here on, a wonderfully long descent awaits you. You drive over the Bärental into the Filstal and thus comfortably get back to Geislingen an der Steige. You cross the historic town center of Wiesensteig and you can make a short detour up to the pilgrimage church near Deggingen if you still have some energy left in your legs. With a wonderful view of the Hausener Wall, you turn onto the last part of the cycle path, which brings you comfortably to your destination.
