https://www.ich-geh-wandern.de/erlebnisweg-achterhoehe-heimatspuren-eifel "At around 5.4 kilometers long, this trail isn't much more than a long walk, but it's still a worthwhile choice in terms of scenery and views. In return, the length also means that families with children can enjoy it A playground and boards, which lead through the flora and fauna of the volcanic Eifel, are specifically aimed at them. The ascents remain moderate. The picnic basket should also be carried or the rucksack filled, because comfortable breaks are waiting on the route. The Tonhuegel hiking car park serves as the starting point, which is why the easiest way to get there is by car. However, it is also possible to use public transport to get to Lutzerath and start hiking from there. The place is not far away. Follow the signs for the “Achterhöhe adventure trail” or those to the viewing platform. Instead of going up, it first goes down, which makes for a nice view of the area, which is still quite open. After a curve to the southwest, the forest slowly begins to show itself. At first we stay a little hesitantly on the edge of it before it's time to enter the thicket directly. Either way, there is no other way to reach the highlight of the trail. The Achterhöhe provides the most spectacular panorama of the route, over the so-called Siebenbachtal. It is already a good idea to linger and have a picnic, but there will soon be another good place for this. Cozy in the tree network and for a while along the stream, it slowly turns into the Drei-Eichen-Hütte. At the same time, appropriate signs for children guide children through the local nature until they can let off steam on the playground. Even adders and grass snakes, i.e. real snakes, can be spotted with luck. After this adventure, a refreshment is ergo deserved. On the last stretch we also pass the Wildkiste, a small, friendly wagon that sells local delicacies." Arrival by car: Ton Hügel car park 50°06'47.5"N 7°00'36.9"E

https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/1053931/-auf-den-spuren-von-natur-und-geschichte-heimatspuren-in-der-vulkaneifel I've already walked this HeimatSpur once in early summer and found it very beautiful back then (https://www.komoot.de/tour/281183942). Now, there are no rolling fields of grain on the route, but plenty of panoramic views, beautiful forest sections, and deep stream valleys that always remind me of the forces of nature. On this short hiking tour, I walk along many secluded Vulkaneifel paths. This means a lot of peace, quiet, and solitude. Exactly what's good for me after a long day at work. And for my dog, too... 😀🐕 Phoebe finds the route extremely interesting, especially because of the many badger sets. A different smell for a change, and she can stick her "trunk" into the large entrances. If that isn't something different... 🦡🦡🦡 The highlight of this tour is definitely the small skywalk, which offers a daring view of the Ueßbach Valley. The colorful sea of foliage creates additional visual appeal. And the view of Strotzbüsch, located on the other side of the Ueßbach Valley, is also very attractive. The phenomenal Drei-Eichen-Hütte is definitely suitable for a long rest. A large and very well-maintained natural playground complements the rest and celebration area. And the Roman fountain provides local culture... Shortly after the rest area, we reach the parking lot in front of the German Shepherd Dog Club.
Eifel finale with a short circular hike around the Achterhöhe with a spectacular viewpoint high above the winding Üssbach valley. ⛰️💦🥾 And if anyone is looking for their "item of clothing", it's hanging here! 😅☝🏼(Picture 6) But now, last stop ahead: Go Westerwald... 🌅 ... and then finally back home to our beautiful Northern Black Forest! 🌲♥️⛰️
A nice short walk that is worth doing after work. We had hoped for a little better from the condition of the path, but it doesn't matter, the main thing is that it's outside. There are lots of wide paths, beautiful views and a small skywalk with a view of the valley. Shortly before the end of the walk, there is a large playground at the Eichenhütte, which you can also head to anyway...
... Actually, it was supposed to be my final tour after three successful hiking days before heading home!!! (Actually) & (Was supposed to). I didn't want to walk too much and a short tour "should" suffice. It started with 1.1 km of asphalt, then gravel paths, a short stretch of nice forest floor, then ground churned up by work equipment, past a closed forest playground... and to finish, another 1 km of asphalt. My personal conclusion on this tour: Yesterday I trudged along the most beautiful hiking trail... and as a punishment, probably today the worst the Eifel has to offer. This tour is a 100% hit into the --->>> 👎 🚽🪠👎 Schimanski would have had the right word for it!!! So, a nice hiking week cannot and must not end with such a final tour... Luckily, I thought of a solution!!! 💡
Unfortunately, the adventure trail turned out to be a flop. The only highlight was the viewing platform, nothing else. But we then drove along the panoramic road towards Cochem. The view from the top is beautiful.
Our first short walk today takes us along the Achterhöhe adventure trail. We park very close to the viewing platform. We reach it after about 400 meters through sparse forest. Here we enjoy a magnificent view of the Uessbach Valley. A comfortable bench is a great place to take a break and unwind. But we don't need a break just yet. We continue towards the Drei Eichen Hut, with its endless seating. The trail up to this point has been very beautiful. We didn't particularly enjoy the next section, the second third, a bit boring, along a paved path through fields. But we are rewarded with the final third. Here we soon reach the "Lutzerath Heath," a truly tranquil and idyllic area. It is located on a slope to the right of the trail. Here we take a short break and enjoy the magnificent view of the valley. There is information about the flora and fauna typical of this area. 🥾🐾🏞️🌸🌳👍
