Follow the Brenz from its source to its confluence with the Danube and back over Härtsfeld: on this varied tour you will explore the entire eastern Swabian Alb. Do not be put off by the more than 100 kilometers of route length, because you can easily divide the tour into several stages and thus have more time to explore the countless highlights along the way.
It starts in Königsbronn, which you can easily reach by train. There the Brenz rises in the hot pot in the middle of the village. The crystal clear, blue-green shimmering water is amazing. You accompany the Brenz, which has been carefully restored over and over again, on its course. The loop through the Eselsburger valley is particularly beautiful.
In Lauingen, where the Brenz flows into the Danube, you have mastered half of the tour. Then the route takes you over the Härtsfeld, an idyllic plateau. You are partly driving on a former railway line that has been converted into an excellent bike path. The last kilometers are a bit hilly, but at the end you whiz down to Heidenheim with relish.

The Brenz - from the mouth to the spring. Via the Möhntal and Härtsfeld back to Lauingen.
The long loop initially runs along the embankment of the former Härtsfeld narrow-gauge railway, which ran from Dillingen am Donau to Aalen. Via Neresheim and Großkuchen, the route passes from the Egau Valley into the Brenz Valley. From the Brenztopf in Königsbronn, the route then follows the Brenz River, mostly on cycle paths, back to Lauingen. The passage through the Eselsburger Valley is particularly beautiful.
