Most of this hike is actually quite leisurely. Only towards the end is the ascent to Schachenberg really tough: a narrow path leads steeply up the slope and demands a head for heights and surefootedness of its hikers. You can look forward to the fantastic view from above.

Between the former border with Württemberg and Fürstenberg, we went from the Reichartsberg hiking car park to Bichishausen. The highlight is the border stone from the 17th century. At the boathouse with a view of the Bichishausen castle ruins, there was an alpine path across the way up to the Schachenberg with a great view of the great Lautertal. Then back through great juniper heaths.
Hochgehberge 5/22 ✔️ After the fantastic Burgfelsenpfad (castle rock path), I drove about 20 minutes to this Hochgehberg, as both tours are only a good 6 km long and can easily be done in one day. Hochgehgrenzen (high-altitude hike) starts off very inconspicuously, walking past meadows and fields, through a stretch of forest and the Lange Tal (long valley). Then suddenly, you're standing in front of the mountain with the ruins in Bichishausen, and you're completely blown away. You can park there, have a drink at the boathouse, and from here you can also start the Hochgehbürzelt (high-altitude hike). I want to do it together with the Hochgeswiggert (high-altitude hike), but you can also combine the Hochgehbürzelt and Hochgehgrenzen (high-altitude hike). Now you can scramble up a steep and rocky path and are rewarded not only with a great view of the ruins, but also with numerous, unfortunately now almost completely faded, pasque flowers. A few weeks ago, the slope must have been completely purple, I saw so many faded pasque flowers. Once you've fought your way up, the trail continues on a flat path until you reach the parking lot. I wasn't exactly thrilled at first, but the short section near Bichishausen reconciled me with the tour. So, now I have a sunburn... Help 🤣🤣🤣 There was almost no shade 🙈
On this premium hiking trail we cross the border that used to separate Württemberg from Fürstenberg. Also the border between the beautiful biosphere area Swabian Alb and the Alb-Donau-Kreis. We experience picturesque views of the Alb plateau, the juniper heath or the Schachenblick over Bichishausen. It's only a little way through the forest - otherwise we were exposed to an icy wind today with all the wonderful views 💨❄️🥶 It was still wonderful 😁
Today I wanted to do a little walk on my day off. The start was bumpy🙈. Since the roads were quite slippery, I didn't set off for the hike until later. The access to the hiking car park was also quite slippery. It was completely empty. The first half of the route would have been easy to walk, but today it was all icy. When we went into the Langes Tal, the route got better, but it seemed like there was no civilization there🤣. No human tracks in the snow or were they all drinking the drink that gives you wings🤔😂. In Bichishausen we passed the SAV clubhouse and then took an alpine path up the Schachenberg 😍. The path and then the view📷🔝🤩. Now we went back over the juniper heath to the starting point. You shouldn't go down the path to the Schachenberg in such weather.
Well signposted circular route with a steep climb at the end. Almost Alpine
Until 1806, three dominions met on the premium hiking trail #hochgehgrenzen: that of the princes of Fürstenberg, the dukes of Württemberg and that of the imperial knights ⚔️🛡️
The basis of today's hike was the "pre-made" route of the predicate hiking trail "high-limited" of the HOCHGEBERGE. The theme of the route is crossing borders, in particular the border between the Principality of Fürstenberg and the Duchy of Württemberg. As with everything off the peg, you can embellish the finished product with fine fashion accessories. I started by setting the starting point of the tour to Bichishausen and changing the direction of travel. I prefer to start in the valley, then crawl up, enjoy the altitude and then slide back down the mountain. The hiking car park is not far from the former customs office. First we went up a nice hiking trail and past the Dürrenstetten water tower. Then you follow the path "Between the borders" until you arrive at the very beautiful vantage point of Schachen and then Halden. From here you have a wonderful view of the town of Bichishausen and the castle ruins. A steep path then leads back to the starting point of the tour. Due to the start and end point in Bichishausen, the castle ruins located there were ideal for the "little loop" of the route. It is beautifully situated on the mountain right in town and is easy to visit. Overall a nice round, but without any special highlights. It's a pity that the topic of the route wasn't "accompanied" a little more vividly. Without the castle tour it would have been a bit "bland".
Still no reliable GPS 🤮 will it ever work again??
