Hiking
The tour around Lichtenstein offers a variety of experiences, such as Lichtenstein Castle, the Nebelhöhle (Nebel Cave), and stunning viewpoints. A route for daydreamers. It's best to plan a full day so you have enough time to discover everything along the way. There are also plenty of places to stop for a break.
The hike begins right next to Lichtenstein Castle. This way, you know right away what to look forward to at the end of the hike. You first hike east. With gentle ups and downs, you'll cross expansive meadows and past a quarry. Then you turn north, where you'll find the entrance to the Nebelhöhle (Nebel Cave) in a forest. Since you can visit it without a guide, it can be incorporated into your hike without long waits. It's best to pack something warm to layer up.
Now you stay above the slope, which drops steeply into the valley. You head west between sparse trees and then to the Gießstein viewpoint. Immediately afterward, another beautiful view follows from Breitenstein. From there, it's only a good kilometer back to Lichtenstein Castle. If you then walk a little further east, you'll find the castle's predecessor, the Alt-Lichtenstein ruins. If you still have energy left, you can climb high up in the high ropes course next to the castle – and if you're more in the mood for a relaxing rest, you can stop off at the castle tavern.

A wonderful tour with Johann and Rainer, from Lichtenstein Castle to the Nebelhöhle cave and along the Albtrauf escarpment with great views back to the starting point.
Hochgehberge 2/22 ✔️ This hike was just the thing for today. Despite the 1.5-hour drive, it was more than worth it, even though I've been here twice before. The advantage is that the distance isn't quite as long (officially 11km), but the Nebelhöhle (Nebel Cave) and Lichtenstein Castle (Lichtenstein Castle) are two sights worth seeing. You can also stop for a bite to eat at both, which I rarely do, but today I just had to. Luckily, it wasn't crowded, so it's best to go there during the week in the morning. The Nebelhöhle (Nebel Cave) totally blew my mind and I really liked it. It's a cozy 8 degrees Celsius inside, just my thing 😍 I didn't visit the castle, but I did that with my son. I preferred to sit in the castle tavern for a while and enjoy a salad and a non-alcoholic shandy. The paths are also truly beautiful, with lots of narrow nature trails and moderate inclines. Absolutely recommendable 👍
The paths were mostly quite soft and therefore more strenuous. Otherwise a nice tour. The sun 🌞 compensated again.
See https://www.wanderinstitut.de/premiumwege/baden-wuerttemberg/hochgehtraeumt/ "The dreamlike Lichtenstein Castle, a stalactite cave and beautiful views characterize this path. Already at the beginning of the tour you will find a beautiful view at the ruins of Alt-Lichtenstein and then walk along the dreamlike backdrop of Lichtenstein Castle. The path then leads you along and to fabulous vantage points such as the Brunnenstein, the rocky Breitenstein or the Gießstein.Further on, the Nebelhöhle - a stalactite cave - invites you to visit.Through open fields, along meadows and a large limestone quarry, you finally reach the starting point at the castle park again ." And we thought it was better to do the tour clockwise since the highlights come at the end.
Truly a premium tour! Ideal variety of forest and meadow paths, not too steep gradients, famous vantage points, a walk-in (fog) cave, and at the start/end a fairytale castle full of stories. Full recommendation, especially because of the nature and the clever and well-maintained paths!
We start at the Kalkofenhütte, on the HW 5, past the Goldloch to the Gießstein, from which you have a wonderful view down into the Echaztal. Always along the ridge, up and down, over the Linsenbühl to the junction where the Schlösslessteig goes down. But we keep to the right, for a bit of a tarmac path back towards the Kalkofenhütte, before a grassy path goes up to the left to the Leibfritz quarry. Always close to the fence with a view into the quarry on a narrow path to the Feldberg viewpoint, from which you have a wonderful view of Genkingen and the surrounding area 🤩 It is not far to the Maultaschenwirt at the Nebelhöhle and after a delicious EKS with 🍺 and 🌭 we took the Nebelhöhlenweg, a beautiful hiking trail, back to 🅿️, our starting point. A scenic and not too difficult circular trail, just under 10 km long and with 300 meters of elevation gain. It was great 😃🤩
2. Tour of the Hochgehberge "hochgehträumt". The starting point was at the Liechtenstein Castle car park. From there the tour leads to the old Liechtenstein Castle ruins. It continues to Liechtenstein Castle. A guided tour of the castle is definitely worth it. Tours take place approximately every 15 minutes. After the castle tour, the tour goes through forest and meadows to Gießstein. From there there are beautiful views all the way to Reutlingen. It continues to the Nebelhöhle. A visit to the cave there is also definitely worth it. The Nebelhöhle can be visited without a guide. The way back leads through forest and meadows back to the car park. The castle tour is recorded, so the tour is about 700m longer.
Wonderful round from P Schlossschenke (free parking) where the tour can also be started. The tour really begins with a beautiful view of the Alt-Lichtenstein ruins. Other hi-glights include: the Nebelhöhle (chargeable) the Gießstein, Breitenstein and Brunnenstein with wonderful views.

This premium hiking trail in the Swabian Jura definitely deserves its name »aufgehträume«. It offers beautiful views from the Albtrauf and connects two of the most popular Baden-Württemberg excursion destinations. A visit to Lichtenstein Castle not only inspires little princes and princesses. And in
