A truly royal flair surrounds you on this almost twelve-kilometer round between Göppingen and Wäschenbeuren: With the Staufer-Runde lion path you not only walk in the footsteps of the king of animals, but also those of King Barbarossa at the same time. Again and again you will come across historical relics from the time of the Staufer. Fantastic views and mystical river valleys are also guaranteed!
Right at the start at the Wascherschloss hiking car park, you will find yourself in the middle of a beautiful forest area. And your legs get something to do right away. You wind your way through the forest, over fields and past the town of Maitis up to Hohenstaufen. Up here you can expect nothing less than a fantastic panorama and the ruins of the castle of the same name, formerly the headquarters of the Hohenstaufen dynasty. Nearby you can treat yourself to a bite to eat in a small excursion restaurant. You have already reached the highest point of the round.
You leave the beautiful vantage point and slowly descend into the village of Hohenstaufen. A fireworks display of historical sights rattles on you: Take a look at the ancient wall paintings in the Barbarossakirche, learn exciting things about life in the Middle Ages in the exhibition on the history of the Hohenstaufen and climb up to the Spielburg, a unique rocky vantage point in the middle of a nature reserve.
You keep losing height and as soon as the forest opens up in front of you, it becomes flat. You walk across wide field landscapes in the direction of Wäschenbeuren and at the end of the tour you arrive at Laundry Castle so that you can take a closer look.

Today end of the year hike Staufer Runde von den Löwen Pfade near Göppingen. I didn't like a lot of forest freeway, a lot of road, but beautiful nature and a wonderful view
Today I was out with friends on the Löwenpfade near Göppingen. I thought I already knew the most beautiful tours on the Albtrauf - far from it - and today the weather was great too. The Hohenstaufen and the Spielburg are simply fantastic places.
Sodele, today I have a free head to go for a spin in the new year. I left late because the sun was waiting ☀️. Since the Lion's Path isn't that long anyway, it was fine. It was good to walk as there was some snow on the ice. You just have to be careful at the play castle. The view from Hohenstaufen is always beautiful 😍, even if the foresight was missing today. The absolute highlight was the chance meeting on @Lexie and Hubert just before the parking lot. It's always nice to see you 😍 It's perfect that I didn't bring my schnapps with me for nothing 🙊
And this lion 🦁 path also impresses with many highlights. We left very late today because the fog in the Remstal was very thick again🙄 So it was time to go up again ☝️ and escape the fog. The hoarfrost, the powder snow❄️ with the blue sky conjured up a beautiful landscape around the Hohenstaufen⛰️ At the Spielburg we missed a path and we also had to reschedule towards Waschenbeuren because of a path closure (forestry work). We then met @Tine Ti at the Wascherhofschlösschen. That was soooo great. Your schnapps before the 🅿️ was just right to warm yourself up again. Dear Tine, always great to meet you spontaneously😘
This morning with a change to FN, by train to Göppingen, then by bus to Hohenstaufen. Since the "Staufer Runde", walked a tour of the lion paths. From Hohenstaufen we went up to the beautiful Spielburg nature reserve with a great view of the surrounding area. Continue to Wäschenbeuren and to the "Wäscherschlössle", then to Maitis and up to Staufen. Great views from there, including the Staufen’s neighbor, the Rechberg. After a rest, we went back down to the bus stop in Hohenstaufen with a nice descent. Despite some passages with tar roads a beautiful round that was fun.
Today, as the crowning 👑 conclusion, I did the Staufer round: Barbarossa's traces in front of a dreamlike backdrop - lion paths around Göppingen. With this last lion path 🦁 the collection is complete. The weather couldn't have been better today. Blue sky and sunshine 🌞 the 3D video of the tour is of course available again. https://www.relive.cc/view/vWqBZQVgwQq
This year I want to run all the lion trails, so today was another one... I decided on the Staufer circuit. Beginning of the month (people go shopping on Saturdays), not the best weather for nice-weather walkers, February... The signs were good for a crowd with few people. And that's exactly how it was🤩🤩🤩👍 I only met other people on the Hohenstaufen itself and the Spielburg, but only a few. I ran this LP over two years ago, with a little mishap. Today it went without any accidents and was super nice and relaxed 😁 Since I really like ending the day in a hotel after a nice tour, I rented a room at the Gasthof Wascherhof. The bathtub in the room convinced me 🤩😁
