Hiking
Nicknamed the "Pearl of the Morvan," Uchon is a small granite massif perched at an altitude of 684 meters. This hike takes you to explore its wild landscapes, where forests meet numerous ponds and astonishing rock formations shaped by erosion.
Starting from the Auberge de la Croix Messire Jean, you head into the undergrowth to discover the ponds that dot the massif. The Étang Neuf, the Prieuré ponds, and the Étang Taupin offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy the calm of this preserved nature. The forest paths also allow you to discover the richness of the vegetation and the different atmospheres of this territory.
The route finally leads you to the Carnaval rocks, one of the most remarkable natural sites in Uchon. These imposing granite blocks, with sometimes surprising shapes, dominate the surrounding landscapes. From the viewpoint, enjoy an exceptional panorama of the Morvan relief and, on a clear day, as far as the puy de Dôme.

At the very end, don't forget to walk to the Rochers des Carnavals. Some granite blocks on top but a beautiful view of the area!

The hike mostly takes place in cool forest, wonderful in warm weather.
The paths are mostly wide and easy to walk on; only in a few places are they narrow, trail-like, and have significant inclines and descents, but they are not technically demanding.
