The Manhartsberg separates two landscapes that could hardly be more different. To the east, the open, sun-drenched Weinviertel, to the west, the cool, tree-covered Waldviertel. This circular tour combines the best of both landscapes. It leads you through seven communities in the Manhartsberg Kleinregion and offers flexible starting points. Travel is particularly comfortable by train to Eggenburg, Sigmundsherberg, or Limberg-Maissau. There are plenty of viewpoints and rest stops along the route.

From Eggenburg, you cycle southwards via Zogelsdorf with its show quarry and Burgschleinitz to Maissau. Afterwards, you follow the Amethyst Cycle Path for a while via Unterdürnbach to Limberg. There, the route turns north. At the Libellenteich pond near the quarry and through the Straninger Au, you reach Straning and continue via Etzmannsdorf and Grafenberg to Wartberg. The viewpoint on the Kirchenberg rewards you with a panoramic view of the region. At the foot of the mountain, a cozy cyclist's rest stop invites you to take a break. The path leads you to Röschitz and right through the vineyards to a rest stop in the Reipersberg vineyard. After a turn to the northwest towards Feldberg, you roll southwards again to Sigmundsherberg. The final stage finally brings you back to the starting point in Eggenburg.

Kellergasse Limberg

Highlight • Historical Site

A cellar lane, also called a cellar path, is a characteristic lane in wine-growing regions, often laid out as a hollow way, where the wine cellars and press houses are located. In the Weinviertel, cellar lanes are an important cultural asset and have shaped the landscape for many years.

Wartberg Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The large church on a hill can be seen from afar. It towers over everything in its surroundings and is an absolute eye-catcher. Once you reach the hill, you have a great panoramic view of the landscape yourself. A welcome stop. :-)

In Klein-Reinprechtsdorf, an old EVN transformer has been converted into a “cyclist’s rest stop”. There you will find a well-stocked fridge with regional wines, juices, coffee and snacks. The self-service concept allows you to fortify yourself as you wish and relax on the seating.

Old Quarry Röschitz

Highlight • Structure

Here in the old quarry, there are beautiful rock formations to admire and an information board explains the connection between soil and wine. At the same time, the quarry is also a party location; there are always events here.

Meiseldorfer Teich

Highlight • Lake

A dreamlike place for relaxation. Unfortunately, the pond is apparently used exclusively for fishing. Too bad, would be good for a cool.

Eggenburg Historic Town Center

Highlight • Settlement

The town of Eggenburg, whose origins date back to the 13th century, was once one of the best-fortified towns in the country. The town walls were expanded over time with towers and gates, and Eggenburg's importance as a political center was underscored by events such as the proclamation of Duke Albrecht V. as ruler of the land.
