Gregor Braun is one of the most successful racing cyclists of the 1970s and 1980s. He comes from the Palatinate, but now lives in the northern Black Forest, where he and his former cycling colleague Heinz Betz head the "Cycling Academy" in Bad Wildbad. With her he runs the bike park in Bad Wildbad and organizes various events. One of them was the "Georg Braun Schwarzwald Classics", the long round of which is a real challenge even for ambitious racing cyclists. Almost 200 kilometers and more than 3,400 vertical meters are waiting for you on this round!

The tour begins in Enzklösterle and winds once across the northern Black Forest. You first drive through the Enz Valley and then in a large lap over the Mummelsee and the Schwarzenbachtalsperre back to the starting point in Enzklösterle. There are some real challenges waiting for you along the way. The Langenbacher Steige, but also the Schwarzmiss, are notorious climbs that demand everything from you. The wonderful Black Forest landscape, which you drive through partly car-free, compensates for every single sweat. On the way, picturesque dams, impressive viewpoints and cozy Black Forest locations provide variety.

Tip: This tour is quite long and only for well-trained cyclists. If you want to follow in Gregor Braun's footsteps, but this route is a bit too tough for you, you can easily shorten it in some places and change it according to your ideas.

Schwarzenbach Dam

Highlight • Lake

The Schwarzenbachtalsperre is around two kilometers in length and is the largest reservoir in the northern and central Black Forest. It is located at an altitude of 668 meters. Bathing in the dam is at your own risk! There is a small kiosk on the lakeshore, ideal for filling drinking bottles.

Schwarzmiss Pass Ascent from Reichental

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

It is a real sporting challenge to cycle up here on a racing bike to the pass below the Hohloh, the Schwarzmiss. The landscape is also beautiful, and above you have a great view down into the Murg Valley and over to the Vosges. Unfortunately, this route is also very popular with motorcyclists, especially on holidays and weekends these are already the plague.

From the outskirts of Reichental it is 7.1 kilometers to Schwarzmiss, with the last kilometer hardly showing any incline.
