Seeon Seerosenweg (Water Lily Trail)

At the water's edge of the lake, the monastery stands twice, once upright and once upside down in the reflection. On the water lily path, you circle the monastery lake effortlessly, a tour for letting your mind wander. The themed path is marked by a water lily, with books set up on the lakeshore that tell anecdotes from local history.

Starting point is at the Seeon Kloster bus stop. The path immediately leads you onto the peninsula where the Benedictine monastery, founded in 994, is located. In the monastery garden, with a view of the picturesque monastery lake, you explore its south side. The path leads you across the curved wooden bridge to the other side of the shore. You comfortably hike your way through the panorama on the vineyard, from which you can admire the monastery, the lakes, and the village in a bird's-eye view, and the Chiemgau Alps in the distance. Along the eastern shore, you return to the island. After a short visit to the monastery church of St. Lambert, you cross the bridge again. Through Seeon, you circle the lake before returning to the starting point of your hike.

Both the monastery restaurant and the inns in Seeon look forward to your visit. You can reach the start of your hike by bus from Traunstein. The church is open during the day and accessible free of charge.
