Cycling

On this route, you venture into the heart of the Girona Pyrenees, following the upper course of the Ter river and combining greenway sections with some shared-use stretches. The starting point, Sant Joan de les Abadesses, welcomes you with its monastery and medieval layout, while around you unfolds the Ripollès, a region marked by Romanesque art and ancient paths that for centuries connected the mountain villages.

The itinerary takes you past the Llaudet colony, a testament to the area's textile industrialization, as well as several bridges and footbridges crossing the Ter river. Further on, you arrive in Camprodon, where the old town and its famous New Bridge have become a symbol of this part of the Pyrenees.

The tour concludes in Vilallonga de Ter after a journey that reveals how nature and pastoral life have shaped the identity of these Pyrenean valleys over generations. As a useful note, both Sant Joan de les Abadesses and Vilallonga de Ter have a bus service managed by the company Teisa.

During the Spanish Civil War it was dynamited to prevent the advance of rebel troops, so it was rebuilt in 1976, respecting the previous reconstruction.

Ferro i Carbó Greenway

Highlight • Cycleway

Greenway between Ripoll and Sant Pau de Segúries, which is partly the old route of the railway between Sant Joan de les Abadesses and the iron mines of Ogassa.

The difference in level between Ripoll and Sant Pau de Segúries is 160 meters, which results in a comfortable gradient of 1%, which makes it very accessible both downhill (in the direction of Ripoll) and uphill (in the direction of Sant Pau de Segúries).

It has different services, such as toilets in the old stations, picnic area, motorhome area and MTB center in Sant Joan de les Abadesses, as well as another motorhome area in Ripoll.

Llaudet Colony

Highlight • Historical Site

Colonia Llaudet is a textile colony in the municipality of Sant Joan de les Abadesses, next to the river Ter. The factory and the first colony were built at the end of the 19th century by Tomàs Alexandre. Soon after, he leased it to Josep Maria Llaudet, an entrepreneur who was engaged in the manufacture of cotton threads.

Finally, Llaudet bought the factory, the colony and the nearby waterfall. The colony includes the director's house, two sets of apartment blocks, a church, and the café and dance hall.

Mariner Canal Aqueduct

Highlight • Bridge

This aqueduct serves the Mariner Canal, also known as the Carbur Canal, which connected Camprodon with Sant Pau de Segúries to carry the waters of the Ter. It is located at the beginning of the road that connects the two towns and that allows you to avoid the road, which is very busy.

Sant Esteve de Llanars

Highlight • Religious Site

Llanars is the perfect example of a rural landscape model surrounded by the Ter and Ribera de Feitús rivers, amidst the mountains and within the Camprodon valley. This village, which had livestock farming as a fundamental activity, is now a quiet tourist destination, open and sunny, ideal for resting and forgetting stress.

The small medieval core, with the Romanesque church of Sant Esteve (12th century), is the most remarkable place from an architectural point of view. Hiking and mountain sports are the active alternative.
