The Lobau is part of the Donau-Auen National Park, which stretches from Vienna to the confluence of the March with the Danube. Thanks to the Lobau, Vienna is the only metropolis worldwide that has a national park in the urban area. You can combine the paths approved for cyclists into a wonderful gravel tour, during which you can fully enjoy the beauty of the beautiful meadow landscape. The tour starts at the Praterstern in Vienna's second district. From the noisy traffic junction you turn onto the quiet Prater Hauptallee and from now on, ideally, no cars will come towards you on the whole tour.

At the height of the National Park House, you turn into the Donauauen National Park. There is a lot going on here, especially on nice weekend days. Whatever applies, applies here in particular: be ready to brake and do not overtake pedestrians too closely. At the beginning you are still in sections on asphalt, but from the Josefssteg the gravel bike is fully in its element and you cycle alternately over fine gravel and grippy dirt tracks. This section is quite brisk and only at kilometer 16 does a junction follow, where you branch off towards Uferhaus.

After a beautiful section you will reach the Gänsehaufen Traverse, a small bridge over an oxbow lake with an observation tower that offers you a great perspective of the floodplain area. Now you theoretically have the choice to switch to the Danube Cycle Path and end the tour on asphalt, or you follow the track and have a few more kilometers of forest and gravel sections in front of you. Among other things, you will pass part of the Danube-Oder Canal, where there are also beautiful bathing areas. As soon as you reach the Danube Cycle Path, it goes back to the starting point on asphalt - perfect for cycling.

In the middle of the green and yet also in the middle of the city. A hike here is always a pleasure! But the Prater Hauptallee is also one of the most famous training routes in the city for runners and cyclists. It is centrally located, easily accessible by public transport and fully illuminated around the clock. If the four kilometers straight ahead are boring anyway, you can choose one of the many branches. Everything you need for daily fitness in spring, summer, autumn and winter. Thumbs up, great!

The Josefsteg is 135 meters long and is located on the so-called Tischwasser not far from the Dechantlacke and allows you to cross an oxbow lake of the original Danube that was until recently drained.
