Trail Reviews

Pam
April 10, 2023, Naturparkrunde Märkische Schweiz

So the sun is shining.. At our starting point there is a large parking lot directly on the hiking trail. The tour has a few meters of altitude, a bit unusual for us lowlanders, but the panoramic view in between compensates for the little exertion. A really, really nice, varied round, along lakes and small streams. There are opportunities for a cozy retreat and nice benches to take a break and enjoy some peace and quiet. I can only recommend this round, put your shoes on and go..

Today we are once again running a "classic" hike - the nature park route through Märkische Schweiz. You can walk this route "always" and probably at any time of the year, even if we prefer the autumn and winter months for hiking. It starts on a hiking car park in front of the gates of Waldsieversdorf and from there around the Schermützelsee. Via the Fischerkehle and Grenzkehle it goes into the Langen Grund - always on the panorama path that runs high above the lake. Unfortunately, you can hardly see anything, because it is extremely cloudy and occasionally a few drops fall from the sky. Never mind, the route still pleases. South of the Bollersdorfer Höhe we come to Buckow and there follow the great signs with the red dot. Until we find out at the Sophienfließ that the route is supposed to swivel north. On the maps known to us, however, it goes everywhere to the east in the direction of Giebelpfuhl. We reach it via a small detour along the Poetensteig and are back on the right route. Strange, but the tourist information in Buckow can't help either - closed due to corona. We continue along the Stöbber and come from behind the Ziegenhals at the Pritzhagener Mühle. Time for a short break right by the water before it goes over Drei Eichen and the Black Lake to Waldsieversdorf. On the Himmelsleiter we climb into the village, the water tower is closed (doesn't matter), because we are on the final stage and finally reach the starting point again. As I said, somehow a "classic" with very varied sections and an (almost) optimal route. If it weren't for these strange signs on the river ... an unsolvable puzzle?

Today we went through the beautiful Märkische Schweiz along the Märkische Schweiz nature park route. The start was the car park in the north of the Schermützelsee. A beautiful, varied route with many highlights.

The Märkische Schweiz (Markish Switzerland) in Brandenburg offers a unique natural setting. On the nature park route around Buckow, hikers experience a landscape formed by the Ice Age, with wild gorges, valleys, and lakes. It wasn't the first time (and certainly not the last) that I hiked this "classic" trail today. The forest was bone dry due to the prolonged lack of rain. This made the liverworts in the Stöbbertal valley all the more beautiful. On the high trail, there was a good view of Lake Schermützelsee through the still sparse treetops.

We started our circular hike on the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park Route at the Schweizer Haus in Buckow, where there is good parking. The approximately 20-kilometer tour leads through a diverse landscape with forests, lakes, and quiet valleys. We began by hiking through tranquil beech forests, then continued into the idyllic Stobbertal Valley. There, we followed a narrow path along the stream—a real highlight with a rustic atmosphere. The route was well signposted and pleasant to walk. We took a break at Schermützelsee and enjoyed the view of the water and the hilly surroundings. The return journey led across open fields and through small forests back to Buckow. Conclusion: A beautiful, peaceful day trip with many scenic attractions—ideal for nature lovers and hikers who want to discover Brandenburg's quieter side. Particularly positive: Few paved or gravel paths, plenty of natural terrain.

Elevation in Brandenburg? Yes, you can do that (at least a little) in Märkische Schweiz. And even though the climbs are all so short that I never get to the point where I ask myself whether a drastic reduction in speed would be appropriate, I still have a lot of fun. Nothing against the flat Brandenburg. It's great. But puffing up a mountain and then being rewarded with a great view is something. Today I'm parking on the outskirts of Buckow at Schermüzelsee. I was actually there 2 or 3 years ago. It was nice, so I'm back. My hike takes me first to Waldsieversdorf, where I descend the "Stairway to Heaven" to the Großer Däbersee and then hike for quite a while in the flatlands. It's only when I go around the Kleiner Tornowsee that things start. Through the Wolfsschlucht to the Dachsberg and further to the Jenahöhe. Both are over 100m high. 🙂 From there it is not far to the panoramic path around the Schermüzelsee and back to the car park. It was beautiful!

Today we went along the nature park route with Walter. Very nice route, if it weren't for all the bloodsuckers 🦟 ... 🙈 In places where there are fewer photos, it was sometimes not possible to take a break for photos. We'll be back at a different time of year. 😉 The panorama trail on the Schermützelsee was particularly beautiful. 👍

The sun finally showed up today. From the hiking car park just before Buckow, we hiked the panorama trail along the Schermutzelsee. Due to the climbs, this requires a certain level of fitness. The tour also goes along the Stobber and the Pritzhagener Mühle. Shortly before Waldsieversdorf there are small and very beautiful forest lakes.
