Hiking
This promising circular hike would have deserved the title “The Three Towers”. They open up fascinating panoramas over the border area between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. And all of this was under water millions of years ago. You are practically walking on the sea floor.
It starts in Borgholzhausen, directly with a sweaty ascent to the Luisenturm. Where trees sprout today and small settlements peek out from among the fields, there was still a tropical sea in the Cretaceous period. The Luisenturm is one of three "lighthouses" that give you a fabulous view. You have already reached the highest point of the tour.
At a leisurely pace, you continue to the “Auf der Steinegge” observation tower near Dissen at ridge height. If you have climbed up to the wide viewing platform, the Teutoburg Forest lies below you in all its splendor. From here it is now downhill to the Black Spring, where you can treat your tired feet to cool off in the splashing water.
The path climbs gently again and brings you to the third tower, where an inn beckons you to stop. Once you have regained your strength, you can still digest a little on the descent. Then the next and last ascent follows up to the Neuenkirchener Berg. You have almost reached the end of the tour.
