Hiking
The Obernberger See lake is nestled in a mighty cirque and surrounded by the peaks of the Stubai Alps. With its crystal-clear, shimmering blue-green water, it is a real eye-catcher and a worthwhile hiking destination. The circular hiking trail is easy and also suitable for families.
From the car park (bus stop also available), you hike along the forest path to the lake. Once there, you circle it on an idyllic shore path with views of the striking Obernberger Tribulaun and the Allerleigrubenspitze peak. At the far end of the lake, the view also extends to the Portjoch, which marks the border with Italy.
A special highlight is the picturesque little church "Maria am See" (Mary by the Lake), which is located directly on the shore and makes a delightful photo motif. Afterwards, you walk back to the starting point on the scenic meadow path, passing the Unterreins- and Oberreinsalm alpine pastures.
Once you arrive back, a stop at the Gasthof Waldesruh inn is recommended.

Two teams were out on their mountain bikes again. We met up with one team at the lake, and the two riders hiked around the lake with us.

Even the route here along the old Brenner road... spectacular 😂😂👍👍👍
The nature here is stunning ❤️
The lakeside circuit is very varied, with sections where you need to be sure-footed.
If the journey here weren't so long, I'd take even more trails.
Highly recommended
