Mariager Fjord Route – cycling tour around the fjord

The Mariager Fjord route is one of Denmark's most beautiful cycling routes. Around 65 kilometers around the fjord of the same name, through forests, over gravel paths, and always close to the water.

You start in Hobro and cycle along the north bank of the wonderful Mariager Fjord. You will pass Kielstrup Sø and then Stinesminde. At the eastern end of the fjord, you cross the bridge at Hadsund to the south bank and then cycle westwards in the opposite direction until you reach Mariager. A visit to the old town is worthwhile here. On the last section, the path leads you back to Hobro through the shady forest Hobro Østerskov. A possible detour to the Viking ring castle Fyrkat, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2023, is worthwhile here. Afterwards, you reach Hobro, where your tour ends.

The route is suitable for cyclists with good basic fitness. The starting point is Hobro train station, which can be reached from Aarhus in around 40 minutes. Alternatively, there are parking spaces directly at the harbor.
