St Mary's Church Tower, Innishannon

Highlight • Religious Site

On the banks of the River Bandon, Innishannon is a large village full of history, interesting buildings and sculptures such as Billy the Blacksmith and the Horse and Rider. The latter sculpture commemorates the ancient river crossing here, once the only way into West Cork. The Old Tower of St Mary's Church dates back to the 12th century.

Dromkeen Wood

Highlight • Forest

Dromkeen Wood was planted by Thomas Adderley in 1740. Thomas was the majority landowner of the area and he set up many of the industries here, including the prosperous linen mill. Thomas planted the woodland with contrasting trees so his name was written across the hillside overlooking the village.

Today there are a few paths through the woodland including the short but enjoyable Adderley Walk.
