An alpine hut located directly on the hiking trail, just two kilometers from Schröcken, with a very friendly hostess. A very welcome first stop at the end of a round …

You're still on green, pleasant hiking trails and have a beautiful view of the green end of the valley with a picturesque waterfall. Above you can see the stony and rugged cliffs of the Braunarlspitze.

Butzensee

Highlight • Lake

Lake Butzensee is a real highlight of the tour. Its crystal-clear, blue waters invite you to have a picnic right by the lake. The water is very cold and a refreshing way to cool off.

Ascent via the Jägersteig (blue/white, so nothing for sandal tourists) past the Butzensee (one, if not the most beautiful natural mountain lake in Vorarlberg) then descent via the Auenfeld, where the Bregenzer Ach has its source, back to Schröcken.

Showing Translation

From the Schröcken church to the Butzensee in approx. 2 3/4 hours. A head for heights and sure-footedness are required. From the Butzensee to the summit not difficult in about 1 1/4 hours.
Return via Auenfeld because the descent is more pleasant - mostly a wide hiking trail or the last hour a goods road.
Good physical condition absolutely necessary.
